The LENOX 30912-VB12 Vari-Bit Step Drill Bit - 7/8", 1-1/8", 1-7/32", 1-1/4" & 1-3/8" has a patented two flute design which cuts fast, clean, round holes that are accurate and burr-free. The enhanced flute design also removes chips rapidly to ensure longer tool life. The split point on the tip of the Vari-Bit is designed for faster penetration and prevents walking. The steam oxide coating adds to the durability of the Vari-Bit Step Drill Bit.

These Lenox step drills work great. We have them in various sizes. They are well-made and the diameter markings are clearly legible. We use them for drilling holes in electrical enclosures. The key to success with these is a powerful drill motor and immediately reducing your feed pressure as the drill breaks through the panel as you go from step to step in diameter.My oldest one is easily twenty years old.

We use it daily to cut thru steel studs, loadcenters, enlarge KOs in junction boxes etc....Have had many VB-11 etc... Somehow this bit has lasted over 2 years now and can still self start and drill 1/2, 3,4 or 1" conduit knockouts on its own.Granted in the last two years we have also used other smaller bits the VB-11 is normally my preffered buying choice for price and common use, but have had Klein etc.. also.Lenox has done an awesome job in making this tool their own.

I’ve used several and this Lenox one is the best at cutting sheet metal and plastic. Use cutting oil and watch your speeds and feeds and it will last a long time.

Used the Lenox bit to enlarge a hole in a stainless steel sink for a water filter tap.Used it also on wood with the same sink to enlarge the counter under another hole to fit a new faucet.Saved me having to pull the sink out to have it punched.Very happy with the Lenox Vari-Bit

I used to buy the Green Lee brand but they are getting harder to find and cost about $30 more . The Lenox one lasts as long as the Green Lee they almost look like they were made in the same factory.
