I have used a lot of valve oil and slide grease for my trumpets. I keep coming back to the chapstick-like slide greases because they are easy to apply and they are not too thick to the point where you have to add oil to make your slides work. For example, I really like the Monster brand oils and greases, but their slide grease (while long lasting and high quality) is also really thick, so I prefer something like the Libretto on slides that I need to move a lot, i.e. the first and fourth valve slides on my trumpets. I'll use the long lasting thicker stuff for my tuning slides. This libretto lasts long and is clean and easy to use!

The Libretto grease stick was included on a previous order of cleaning supplies for an alto sax. I liked it (although the price is double of other brands like Rico or Vandoren) so I will continue to order it as needed. It is a cleaner and more effective product versus other manufacturers.
