I've ordered MANY rocks to paint from different sources but I must say that these are the best of the bunch. They're the perfect size, mostly defect-free on at least one side, very smooth and very clean. I did rinse them to get any dust off but the paper towels I dried them with were barely dirty afterwards. They came in a very sturdy bag that didn't bust during shipping. The outer cardboard box was torn on one end but someone taped it up along the way, so no damage was done to the inner bag. Oh, and the price I paid, under $1 per rock, was very reasonable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THESE ROCKS FOR PAINTING!

I felt stupid buying rocks but was so glad I did. These are perfect fora kids art project and so nice that they are all smooth: great size for writing words and drawing pictures.

I needed smooth rocks to paint for a camping trip and these work well. I painted one already and it turned out fine. The rocks are just the right size and smooth. Can't wait to go camping with my niece and nephew!

My favorite 9 year old wanted to make a painted snake for the garden out of different sized rocks. I was skeptical but ordered these and they were perfect. He made a whole snake family. The rocks were clean and of different sizes so worked well.

stones are a natural product that have a degree in variation to them but I was pleasantly surprised at just how consistent the quality of these were! all are generally within the 2-3†size as advertised, and generally the same grey tone. I especially like the texture of these as they are not too smooth/shiny so paint will adhere nicely. The shapes vary from round to tapered but all are relatively flat which is perfect.I purchased two bags and was concerned when the box first arrived. The bags they come in are VERY small! Despite that they all arrived without damage and were packaged well.I also like that these come in a set of 16. So many other packs of river rocks are giant bags of 60-100+ and we just don’t need that many!!! Overall I am pleased with this purchase and will order again.

I received this one bag as a gift. I've bought one or 2 myself before . This bag had quite a few stones with pores and scratched areas etc that made them not Smooth. One rock was under 2" but majority were above 2". I still like this sellers stones as they are 99% of the time Smooth, a nice surface to paint and draw on, and have a variety of shapes and sizes for artistic expression. If you get them on sale for 9.99 or lower I think that's okay for getting 16 pieces. It could go to $8 which I'd feel better on.
