I got this device with the hope that it allows me to use my Rode NT1A condenser mic and my Shure Beta 58 dynamic mic for my iPhone X recording. As noted by many reviewers, there is no visual marking on the adjustment knobs, so it's very difficult to see what the settings are. As soon as I plugged my mic in, and switch to REC mode to hear what it sounds like without even connecting to my iPhone yet, I noted there is a lot of hissing noise, and the sound of the mic seemed very muffled. Adjusting the gain dial didn't help. When I connected my Rode NT1A condenser mic to it and turned on the 48V phantom power, I have to turn the gain setting really high to get a decent level in my headphone, but when I did some vocal testing with it, I could hear clipping and distortion on louder passages. It's almost impossible to adjust the gain knob to reach a satisfactory setting. I used a TASCAM 2x2 USB audio interface with my NT1A, and I haven't run into that much trouble in setting up the mic level. I suspect the Smartrig's pre-amp may not be well suited for this type of application. All and all, one would expect better performance for a pricey little gadget like this.

maybe if you are a seasoned pc or mac or audio guys you will know the difference with all these adapters on here. well, as it turns out, the surface pro won't let you record in through the audio jack and the ip[ad that i have doesn't accept the apple input jack thing. Do your due diligence before purchasing this thing. Oh, also, i bought it last April and didn't eve open it until tonight. when i put the battery in the metal clip broke and i had to finagle a conductor out of a wire splicer. so Yah, this thing is absolutely worthless to me.

Overly noisy, cheap construction, overly saturated gain causes distortion -

I had high hopes for this one. I wanted to record the master out from my wife's DJ controller, using her iPhone. I tried two different sets of cables and two different outputs from the controller and both gave me the same result, here and there I can head a click in the recording.I used XLR to 6.35 mm coming from master out.I also used 6.35mm to 6.35mm coming out of booth out.I'm going to return it.I currently use an iRig that doesn't add these clicking noises and I use the same master our from the controller.

I gave this product a 1-star review because there was no way to rate it zero stars. There is nothing more aggravating than spending $170.00 on a device that comes broken from the manufacture. The left metal battery conductor in the battery compartment was broken off and couldn't even use this device. I've learned my lesson. Use the things you buy from Amazon immediately. Don't assume they are going to work when you unpack them months later. I won't be buying their products in the future or repeat my mistake.
