Overall early on I am pleased. I do NOT love all the plastic but still seems well made. I love controlling with bluetooth. I can turn smoke off and on and control volume etc. Time will tell if it is worth the money. I have a 37 year old LGB train still running strong so that for me is the standard. I do love the touches and it looks great under my skinny tree. Love the Wonka theme too Will follow up in the years to come

My son is a huge Wonka fan and he loved this train. It’s not his first Lionel train set; he has the Polar Express and Hogwarts express. It plays the cute Oompa Loompa piccolo sound when it ready to run. He got the chocolate scented smoke so his room smells like hot chocolate

Our family grew up with Lionel train sets which were the highest standard brand—it still is. But this is the first time we had a Lionel train set that stars a beloved kid’s character, Willie Wonka. It’s also the first interactive train set we played with that has fabulous high-tech features such as Bluetooth compatibility, remote control, a special Lionel app for multiple devices, voice control and streaming for our own special announcements. It also has sound effects including the train whistle and bells and other sounds, smoke, a headlight, and as if that wasn’t enough, marching Oompa Loompas. The tracks snap together and everything is very easy to assemble. It runs on three AAA batteries (not included) and lasts for hours. Great fun for kids—and for us adults too.

This is my 4th Lionel train set. I have been a fan of their products for years. They make the nicest train sets I have seen, especially the models they sell that have a holiday theme like this Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory set. This is the first model I have owned that supports Bluetooth, however. It's really nice to be able to use my phone to control the train instead of the remote that comes with it. When using the app, you are able to access additional features such as voice control and recording your voice to use for train announcements. All of the features I have tried so far work well. My only complaint about this set is the price. Despite the Bluetooth features, I don't think this set is worth over $400. If you can afford it your children will be delighted to find this train around the tree on Christmas day. But unfortunately the high price will cause this train set to be more than most families can afford.
