I have a 2009 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT and had to get this to remove my transmission cooler lines, it worked except on 1 line disconnect, never released due to the rust but it worked fine on all the other disconnects. Ended up just replacing the entirety of the cooler lines.

This works great for getting transmission lines uncoupled on some Ford products. Way more durable than the old plastic ones from the high end tool trucks.

Getting the 'quick connect' fittings off is a giant pain, but you can't do it without a specialty tool. This one isn't extremely sturdy - I felt I could have broken it if I torqued it too much - but it did the job. Be patient, push and pull at the same time with both hands. Fortunately I probably won't have to use it again for many years which made it a good value.

Used the 1/2" and it worked great. Slid on one line fine. Pushed it in. Followed advice online to push the line in and then work it out. At first it didn't seem like it was working but constant tug and slight wiggling and the line slowly made it's way out. The second line seemed initially more difficult because the tool wouldn't fit by a miniscule fraction. I tugged on the line enough to get the tool to fit and it then came off as well as the first.

Not too flimsy, but kinda. The concept is great, spot on actually. My situation has rust and corrosion in that area(salt/snow) perhaps in the nicer regions they slide right in as some depicted did.Not in my case. Luckily I could remove the coupler from my truck, and line as one, and remove it on the bench. Even vertical in a vise was a bear.My spring ring inside the coupler were squagged a bit too,so not a perfect scenario for the test.To the designers of the tool,Perhaps make the step down collar slightly longer , maybe a full 1/8 would work better. But slightly shorten the big side to keep the tool in the parameters of the line tolerances. That way it still fits lengthwise in that space, but also the step collar has more meat to get around the line deeper into the coupler. Seeing it's a scissor, one side sits deeper that the shorter side, so it's offset not going in equally on both halves. Fwiw,Still the best tool I've seen for this specific application , but like most things, it could be a tad bit better with very little effort in design. Just so it works better for most applications, not just perfect scenarios.

I saw this tool being used on YouTube and gave a link to purchase this. I bought this as a backup. I took my truck to have radiator and water pump replaced and the mechanic said he didn't need it because he uses split copper tubing. His method worked great on the bottom line but he was stopped cold on the top line After 30 min - I said 'mind if I try this tool' and he said 'might as well it not coming off for me'--15 second later I had the line off. I gave him the tool and he gave me a discount.

I got this for a 2008 Ford F-350 transmissions filter lines. To change the filter. It worked in the end. For first timers: you attach it around your pipe and firmly push the narrow part into the pipe fitting. It forces a circular split ring off the pipe and into a recess within the fitting. The pipe will pull out with your other hand. Keep firm pressure against the tool to hold that split ring still in the fitting as the pipe slides out. There’s a raised bump on the the pipe inside the fitting, which is held in by the split ring. You must get that ring off the pipe and into the recess. Do not twist hard. It will break. Firm and direct inwards. Use WD40 first and during to blast all the grit out. That split ring needs room to move into its recess in the fitting. It’s full of grit.

Very good quality tool. Not some plastic garbage. This is the real deal. Disconnected the pipes off the transmission cooler on my f150 lightning 2003. Highly recommend it.
