For several years I have used the generic refill bags, trying to save money. The different makes come and go on Amazon, and I've used the ones in the dispenser, and the ones you add to an old dispenser. None of them contain the urine odor, even though they all claim odor control. I use activated charcoal in the litter, scoop twice a day and empty the litter genie twice a week, and still smelled cat pee every time I walked past the laundry room where the litter box is. Finally gave up and went back to these LG brand name refills and now there is no stink. So, they do control odor as claimed. The liner also doesn't slip out of the dispenser when there's still a foot of usable bag left, like the generics did. And they don't tear apart like some of the generics did. Hate to pay more, but don't want to live in a house that stinks like cat pee. This product is a classic example of you get what you pay for - it costs more but it does way more.

I have two larger cats (half Maine Coon), and one refill lasts about one month for me - which is in line with what the manufacturer suggests (1 cat/2 months) - using scoopable litter (Precious Cat is the BEST. http://amzn.to/1HWSbTd)The thickness of the bag/liner(s) and the construction of the unit itself have eliminated any unpleasant smells. Before, I was using plastic grocery bags that would need to sit until they went out to the trash, being smelly. I switched to the Litter Genie about two years ago and certainly don't miss the odor. It's also nice to have to dispose of only ONE bag of waste per week instead of several smaller bags - whereas before, I'd scoop daily and empty into a grocery bag, tie it off, etc. with this you just scoop into the Litter Genie pail, pull the handle to drop it into the bottom, done - pull the bag once a week and you're good to go.Let's face it - a Litter Genie is kind of a luxury item when it comes to cat care. It isn't *necessary*, but it really is nice to have, especially if you live in a small space like an efficiency apartment. The downside is that the liner/bag refills can be pretty expensive, and depending on where you live, hard to find. I'm willing to pay a little for the convenience it affords me, but $7.99+ per cartridge elsewhere was more than I cared to spend. It is likely more cost effective to use something like 8gal trash bags, but I'm at a point where I'm willing to spend a few extra dollars for the convenience of it. Perhaps I'll try that method for science, but for now I have about a year's worth of cartridges to get through.

You either already have a litter genie or you are about to buy one. I cannot recommend this product and the refills enough. It keeps the smell away completely, it's nice and tidy and it's great quality.

Thank goodness for these and litter genie. It makes all the difference when you have more than one or two cats. It’s very easy to use and replace. Use clumping litter. It contains a lot of length so 1 cartridge lasts a long time. We buy them in bulk to save money.

So we needed more refills for our cats litter genie. Only available in the USA as we purchased our unit there. We can’t cross over right now.So basically had to shop online.It’s the exact product we needed.However we had to order TWELVE in order to get the best deal, other wise it’s too expensive per unit for less ? So odd.
