I had a lot of fun putting this together, the fact that you can put these onto any kalimba body makes for a very cool bespoke gift idea. The lowest note on the kit I received was F, which might be a problem for some people but I prefer the Lydian mode so it doesn’t bother me, plus you can just tune to any scale you like anyway.

No directions or diagrams. Very minimalist product even though I didn't expect much. The sound quality is pretty iffy.

The photos show a kalimba with C as the lowest note, but I received keys with F as the lowest note.Assmembly isn't super difficult, you just need to alternate notes starting wtih the longest key and arrange the bridge, saddle, and retainer as shown in the pictures. For the keys, put the long F key in the middle, G on the right, A on the left, B on the right and so on, just repeat F, G, A, B, C, D, E and alternate sides to arrange the keys. You should be able to play a major scale by alternating thumbs once it's done correctly.

Ended up getting a set of 21 keys (labeled from F to E, almost 3 octaves) although leaving out the high keys makes the lower 15 sound better. Made a simple box and it sounds great! Working with the hardware was a little difficult:Construction takes some fiddling but I found it easiest to fully screw on the bracket piece first. Then slide the tines through and over both the bridge and back stop (wood) with the bridge very far down. Then scoot the bridge up as far as it will go (this should tension the tines enough to make clear notes)

I imagine this is great to replace parts from another similar Kalimba. But to do your own you must find documentation in the Internet, or try and error. It would be enough to have a diagram with the right positions and bar separations.

Perfect. Made my own kalimba out of black walnut wood and inlaid opals in it.
