Got a new padlock for an old shed and the shackle was a couple of millimeters larger than the holes in the hasp. If you've ever tried to slightly widen a hole in steel with a larger drill bit, you'll know what a nightmare it is. This bit was one of the few affordable step-bits that advertised that it would cut through steel. Most of the other less expensive ones only mentioned aluminum and copper metals.Long story short, it worked to perfection. Glided into the hole and I could easily see just how much I was widening it. Didn't seem to wear or dull the bit at all. This will be one of my most used tools from now on.

I was very surprised at how long this step drill bit lasts and stays sharp. Went through 3 or 4 of the big box hardware store bits before getting this bit. The bit did 75% of the remaining drilling and was still usable once all the holes were drilled.

Worked very well for my application of widening holes in thin stainless. Not sure if it will stay sharp - but I don’t have much experience with other tools like this. It seemed to weaken a little after 4 holes. But solid and of high quality.

This thing is awesome. I went front plexiglass to plywood to metal brackets and no problem. Cuts right thru clean and quick. I did a whole project with this bit. I’m telling you if you get it u will love it. It’s just great. Makes me wanna drill more wholes.

So far have only used one of the bits but the performance was outstanding. The bits are very sharp and appear to be well made. The bit cut through the steel sheet metal like it was made of wood. I am pleased with the purchase.

Edit: Top of my list was value for the price, it's still a good stepbit... However I paid $15 for it. At 4x three price I'd say get a Milwaukee or Irwin brand instead. If the prices comes back to $20 or less I'd recommend. Changed from 5 stars to 3.I ordered 3 of these, all of us that used this product really liked it. I don't use it to start holes, I use a pilot to save the tip...it's been in my pouch for six months now. It's an aggressive cutter, be careful, but has stayed sharp. Using it for overhead door installs, materials up to about 11ga. Will definitely buy again.
