1. Press and hold the "test" button, and align the probe head of the magnetic pole identification pen with the surface of the tested magnet until the signal light is on.
2. During the detection process, if the red signal light is on, it indicates that the surface of the tested magnet is "n" pole; if the green signal light is on, it indicates that the surface of the tested magnet is "s" pole.
3. Press and hold the "test" button, and make the probe head of the magnetic pole identification pen move along the surface of the tested magnet, then the process of the magnet changing from one magnetic pole to another can be observed.

Arrived fairly quickly. The Magnet Pole Detector works as described. The quality of the item is really good for the price. It was a good buy!

The only good thing I can say about this product is that it came in a pretty storage box, and the instructions were clearly written by a native English speaker. They were easy to understand—not the usual broken English often seen with Chinese-made products. That, at least, is a plus.Here's what's wrong:1) No Power Indicator – Most devices with a power button have an indicator light that turns on when pressed, signaling that the unit is active. This one does not, leaving you to guess whether it's on or if the batteries are dead.2) Poorly Positioned Indicator Lights – Once you figure out that you have to hold the power button—again, an indicator light would be helpful—the red and green north/south pole indicator lights are recessed so far back inside the enclosure that the only way to see them is by looking at them straight on.3) Terrible Battery Compartment Design – The battery enclosure is nearly impossible to remove without prying it open. Instead of a simple slide mechanism or a threaded cap like most other battery indicators, this one uses a molded tab that is extremely difficult to press. I had to use a screwdriver to force it open. You will not be able to open this up without a lot of force and two hands.And oh… did I mention that there was strong evidence this was previously returned? The plastic storage box arrived unsealed and without any protective wrapping or printed carton. According to the internal packing list, the box was supposed to include additional items like batteries and a warranty card—none of which were inside. That strongly suggests this was a returned item missing its original packaging and contents.Returned for refund.

Simple to use, looks like it will last a long time.I tested it in many situations and found it very functional (and accurate).
