My first product review ever. This is a great saw. I had ms honey ledger stone mortared to cynder block and had a forty foot line to cut so i could evenly cap it. This saw cut through fast and easy and its lightweight. I couldnt have been more pleased.

First, I thought of doing the manual labor by cutting the stones using a chisel and I did it was tough. So I decided to look into some of the different masonry saw available here and by reading/comparing all the products and its reviews I find this Makita masonry saw has the most upside in terms of its long term usage, the name/quality behind it and the price I didn't hesitate to get one. And it didn't disappoint me because it does the job very well and I was glad I chose this tool.

Lightweight, easy to control. Has a depth control but no angle adjustment which should be a no brainer for this price.

I researched many types/brands of products for cutting hardy board. Ive used a regular circular saw in the past with the lower density hardy board because I didn't want to spend extra money at the time. I found however with the higher density board, the blade became very hot and once a groove was started you were stuck.I settled on the Makita and I must say, this little wonder pleasantly surprised me. It cut through hardy backer board smoothly and with ease. The 4 inch blade makes it easier to maneuver than my regular circular saw. Additionally, there was significantly less mess as the cut was finer. I am a woman. The saw is easy to use, not too heavy, and due to the fact there is not a blade guard blocking the underneath side [like a regular circular saw (there is one on the top)] it is easy to see and follow my markings. If the groove begins to get off track mid cut, I simply lift the saw and come right back down where I desire without having to navigate the groove. My son would rate it a 4 because of that feature. He went to set it down before the blade stopped spinning and it cut a spot into my driveway. Personally, I like that feature for the ease of sight and ease of use. Like any power tool understand how it works, be careful and remember the saw cant be set down until the blade stops. As always, use a mask and goggles as cement once aersolized, can be toxic.

I used the saw to cut concrete. It was fast and smooth. The only negative was the dust created.

I purchased this masonry saw for a one time patio project. Then, it wouldn't stop raining, and we did not get to start on it for several weeks. When we finally found a dry week to work, the brand new saw would not shut off. Really dangerous. I called Amazon, but because it had been over 30 days, they told me to call Makita. My husband always buys Makita products, but we had never used their warranty service. The representative said they did not replace, just repaired products. The nearest service repair shop is 60 miles away. He suggested that I buy another or rent one, until I could get mine repaired. Or I could return it to them for repair. I don't need two and I certainly don't want to rent one. It was brand new and I really needed it, but they could not help. We drove 60 miles to the service center to drop it off. It has been 2 weeks and they still have not had time to work on it. I am totally bummed. My yard is a mess and I can't do anything about it. I may never buy another Makita product.
