bought this to replace the orginal one, after 180,000 miles it needed it, lasted about 2 weeks and the built in camshaft sensor junked out, just go pay the price difference and get manufacturer quailty, worth it in the long run.

My Mercury Village started occasionally misfiring. I tried some good injector cleaner, but that didn't help. There was a good chance the spark plugs were the originals, so I replaced those. No help, and it was getting worse. Rather than buy a distributor cap, then new plug wires, then maybe a complete distributor, like this one, So I went for it, and it worked. It is so easy to install the entire unit, but read the instructions in the box.I'll count this as a victory over high priced mechanic shops.

Disappointedly after competing my install, my truck started running rough and the check engine light came on. After performing an OBD check, it showed that there was a misfire in piston #4. A thorough inspection revealed that it was actually a defective cable that would not sit properly in the spark plug. The rubber collar at the end seemed thicker than the others & and the metal crimp inside kept moving around. I ended up having to use one of my old cables (Beck & Arnley) that was still in good shape. Had I known this prior to installation, I would have returned to e item. So moral of the story…inspect your product before installing.
