I've got a couple hitch related items that we cycle between (cargo carrier, bike rack, ball mount for a trailer). My main gripe with connecting up my devices is the basic hitch pin that comes with nearly all items. It works, don't get me wrong, but I struggle to pull out the locking pin, especially on my low sedan. The hitch is tight up under the bumper, and with the safety chain hook area below, there isn't a ton of space to work in. I found this hitch pin that has a flip out lock portion, and it is a game changer for me. Installation is the same as a normal hitch pin, and instead of fighting with a clip, I can just flip over the lock and call it a day. I use an anti rattle device with my accessories as well, so I have no fear of this pin breaking/being my only support for a bike rack. Overall, I'd highly recommend.

No more knuckle bustin gettin the pin out. Only problem is I gotta buy a bunch more.

A friend bought me one of these hitch pins several years ago, and I damaged it badly when I hit a rock. Even with part of the pivot lock broken, it managed to continue working till a week ago. I was thrilled to find a duplicate because it's perfect for my small trailer--right length, right diameter. I did need to buy a 1/2" washer (the first time) to slide up to the bottom of the "ears" to keep it in place. I bought two pins this time so if I mess it up again, I have a spare.

Started using the 5/8" style for my car. Eliminates losing the hairpin. Everything is contained in the assembly. Bought the 1/2" size to pull little trailer on ATV.

I needed a 1/2" hitch pin and I didn't want any more knuckle-destroying pins with a clip on the end. Everybody sells 5/8", and some of them don't tell you--you just take your chances. With this hitch pin, there isn't any doubt. If you remove the 5/8" sleeve, what else is left? Too bad finding a 1/2" is such a crapshoot. I have a nice collection of 5/8" hitch pins that I can't use. But now I have a 1/2" like I wanted all along. So far, it has worked very well, without the toggle end un-toggling and ruining my day. I recommend it highly--especially if you have a nice selection of 5/8" and are looking to maybe try out a 1/2" hitch pin.

They are more expensive than the basic ones with R-clips, but in my case, interference of the R-clip was an issue. This one with pivot lock did the trick. As an added bonus, no more R-clip to lose in the tall grass!!! Although I needed the smaller size, the idea of the sleeve to fit different sized holes is nice too. One hitch pin fit both sizes. Nice!!!
