This kettle illustrates the idea that you need to know what you buy. Many Americans first experience a plugin kettle in Great Britain or Europe. There they are fast and furious because they have 220v + power . Here in America we have half that, or 115-120v.This difference means our kettles heat slower. Of course the more you boil the slower it gets. That said, this little kettle works great. Looks good and boils water as expected. Easy to use and clean too. It arrived in perfect shape and on time. How long will it last? No clue but it looks well made and should be around for awhile.

The first version of this review rated 1 out of 5 stars with me, essentially for poor reliability and customer service. Before I explain why I changed my mind with this update, here’s my first review dated 11-18-2021Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2021Verified PurchaseFor years I’ve been buying a very similar design of kettle made by Hamilton-Beach: I like them very much but they would last about two years on average. When my current one began acting up, I decided to try this one. However, before my order was even delivered, I determined the problem lay not with my HB kettle, but with my GFCI outlet. Once I fixed that, the HB kettle was back in action. Rather than return the new MegaWise kettle, I put it away for safekeeping. Now I had an instant back-up!When the HB kettle finally died months later, I got out the MegaWise and congratulated myself on having no interruption in my coffee delivery. It worked great (note the past tense) and I liked it. The design and ergonomics were good. Figured I'd found my new kettle supplier. Yesterday the blue illumination ring (highly practical as well as esthetically pleasing) along the base stopped working. The outlet checked out ok, but kettle wouldn't light up when you switched it on. It still heats up - so it's still useable and still activates the auto-off function - but I'm always having to watch it to make sure it heats up when I switch it on. So, not two weeks into actual use and it's had a failure. Not happy. On the Amazon page where the kettle is displayed says as it's very first bullet point of product information in the 'About this item' panel; "Mega Support. 7-24 Live Chat Support" Oh, really? Where??I looked everywhere but couldn't find it or any other point-of-contact information. Amazon's link to "Visit the MegaWise Store" was no use either, except to note that this product is 'Currently Unavailable.' Hmm... not looking good.Called Amazon Help to see if they could assist me in getting touch with the maker and one of their people ended up having to put me on hold while they searched around to try and find this information. Finally, all they could give me was a Hotmail.com email address and a phone number for somewhere in Germany(?). For a company which appears to want to give the impression of good customer service, this was a huge FAIL.*So that brings me to this 11-24-22 update and a newly bestowed 4 stars.I soldiered on until this week when I finally got fed up with the kettle not indicating if it was active. I’d fill it up, hit the ‘On’ switch and then have no clue as to whether it was working or not until a few minutes had passed and it would start making that noise they all make when the water is starting to heat up.It’s amazing some of the things you’ll put up with, isn’t it.I decided I’d give MegaWise a shot at redemption and ordered another one. It arrived today and, while there wasn’t really anything immediately obvious, I somehow got the overall impression they’d pulled their act together and become more serious about their product. The biggest clue was the warrantee process. The instructions had me download an app called ‘Transparent,’ which took but a moment. I then used it to scan the QR Code located on the top of the kettle’s box, entered my Amazon Order Number, and I was done. I was then informed my two-year warrantee for the kettle had been noted and activated. My brand new clean and ever so shiny kettle again lights up at the base when switched on and I’m a happy chappy again. It looks as though their after-sales service has indeed upped their game.I guess we’ll see, huh…

I like the look and feel. Has a spring loaded pop up lid for filling. Blue LED lights around base makes it easy to see the water level which glows blue when heating. The switch pops after it reaches vigorous boiling. I don't know if it has overheat protection if it accidentally boils dry since I usually shut it off as soon as it reaches full rolling boil. 1000W heater works faster than a microwave. Having a switch is much safer than unplugging the unit from the outlet. The pot itself lifts off the base for use and filling, so the electric base never has to go near water.

I love this electric kettle! I had researched these items for a while and had loved using them in Europe! Easier to use than I excepted. I fill the kettle with water flip the switch and continue with other things. The blue light shows me the water is heating and with I hear a chirp! Great item to have instead of listening for a kettle to heat up on the gas cooktop!

I've been using this tea kettle for over a week now and I just had to leave a review because I love it! I've owned an electric kettle in the past but I'm really glad I upgraded to this one because I like it a lot better. First it's lightweight but not fragile. It's sturdy, easy to clean and quite honestly it just looks really neat in my kitchen. The kettle is clear so you can see the water boiling and a blue light illuminates the interior when it's turned on. This kettle doesn't have a temperature selection which personally I'm good with because my last kettle had that option and I never used it. This kettle is easier, you just flip a switch on the handle to turn it on and flip it again to turn it off. It boils fast, about two or three minutes until the waters boiling hot. There's also a cord storage feature underneath it's base but I haven't needed to to use it. I'm planning on buying a few of these for Christmas Gifts this next year as it will look 'fancy' in any kitchen and it's so practical. Even if you're not a tea drinker, you can boil water for cocoa or a variety of other needs in a fraction of the time it takes to boil it on the stove top. My mother lives in a small retirement apartment complex and I'm going to buy her one of these to heat bath water as her hot water heater is small and she's always complaining that she has to microwave a bowl of boiling water to add to her bath. Neat idea! The only improvement that this tea kettle could use is the ability to change the color of the light so that it truly would match any kitchen. But I'm very happy with my purchase you will be too. Just buy this!

good kettle. I bought it not expecting miracles from it - a regular kettle - but it works much quieter than the previous ones. The backlight works so it was nice to get a sponge - no. it is convenient to clean the kettle inside

I didn't need anything fancy, I was just sick of microwaving my mug of water for tea. Given the price, it was more ideal to get one of these than the traditional stove top-type kettles. This was perfect for my needs, takes a bit of time to boil, but probably not any longer than it would on the stove. As an added plus, turn down the lights and you've got a neon blue bubbling light show. How long it lasts, well that's yet to be determined...

The lid opening button gets stuck and needs several pushes before the lid opens

I purchased this recently on Amazon. It boils fast and is slightly larger than other cattles out there (1.7L vs 1.8L). I'm using it every day and am loving it so far.I called the customer support to activate warranty. He was very supportive too. Overall 5 out of 5.
