It measures 4.5" W x 8" H and weighs around 1 pound. This is a fun, novelty size drum that's a perfect gift for musicians. The shell is hand made out of a single piece of solid mahogany from certified managed forests (NOT glued together wood pieces). The exterior is beautifully hand painted. This Mini Djembe has the traditional West African Mali Weave rope tuning system and natural goat skin rawhide head; plus, the head produces tone. This is a good little drum for my 14 now 17 month old who loves to drum on daddy's drum. But it's just the right size for him! Very pretty and stands up to the beating of being dragged around the house, to day care and back as well as the occasional toss across the living room.Well worth the money for my son. A bit small if you are looking for something for say a five or 6 year old. Maybe a size or 2 up.

Unfortunately, the drum came dented and does not sound as nice as it should. Missed my return window so will have to make do for now.Otherwise, cute drum for kids.

This isn't a bad little drum. It's well made and very pretty. I love the paint job on it. The skin stays nice and tight. The issue is that I got this for my 14 month old. He loves playing on my big djembe. However this one does not have a good sound. It just isn't much to play on unless you are wanting to keep tempo or something. It just doesn't work as a drum for a kid because the sound isn't loud enough to hold their attention. I wouldn't even use it myself for anything because their isn't any ring to the sound. I do love the over all design though and would probably get a big one sometime.
