Perfect for cake sheet cutting and piece removal, also home made Chicken Pot pie or Lasagna.** used metal file to remove burrs on metal tang in handle- just a light buffing with file did the trick. Good valve for the price.

Came with a razor sharp edge and a burr in the corner. Cleaned it up with a fine file, now it works great. I wouldn't wash it in a dishwasher as it has a wooden handle and similar ones have split as a result, but a minor detail.

2021-07-23 update: I corresponded with the manufacturer and they said they previously modified the design of their M18430 product (Square Edge Turner, 4 Inch x 2.5 Inch) to have 2 rivets and a half-tang due to feedback that "the full tang 3 rivet was a bit too heavy for many users", but neglected to update its description/photography at that time. They said they're updating it ASAP now that I brought the discrepancy to their attention.This turner (Square Edge Turner, 4 Inch x 2.5 Inch) is advertised to have 3 rivets and a full tang, both in the description and in pictures. The item I originally received had only two rivets and a half tang. After going through the exchange process and re-ordering the same item, its replacement also arrived with only 2 rivets and a half-tang. I have searched and have yet to find anywhere else online showing a picture or description of this item (Mercer Culinary M18430) featuring anything other than 3 rivets and a full tang, so it doesn't seem as if the manufacturer has changed their design.Additionally, the sides of the tang stick out beyond the wood on the handle and are somewhat sharp. They are not flush with the wood, as you would expect, and scrape your hand as your grasp the turner.

It is solid and well made. However, the tang along the full length of the wooden handle is more than flush with the wood so it scrapes you hand. I bought another turner from another brand. That tang is set slightly narrower than the wooden handle so it doesn't have Mercer's problem.

I got the Square Edge Turner, 4 Inch x 2.5 Inch. This is a nice kitchen tool. Very nice rosewood handle and sturdy stainless steel blade. This is the quality of tool I used when I worked in commercial kitchens. It is great for serving from walled cake pans, or those frozen entrées, Brownie pans and the like . It seems we use this almost every other day. Nice compact useable size and I think I need some of the other sizes now. Like with anything, it is nice working with quality tools.
