Don’t waste your money on cheap aftermarket clones. They will fail after one season. This Mercury bulb is the best.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well made this primer bulb was. The things I noticed were first the weight of thi it was much greater than my previous, you can tell the material(rubber?) was much thicker. It also has a quality feel. I'm running a 90 horse mercury outboard and it now works fine I. Replace the engine connector on the fuel line at the same time , from reading other reviews people indicated that the Bulb should be facing with the arrow upward; having done both these things my motor seems to be running much better now and the bulb never goes soft

Had a problem with fuel flow, replaced the junk primer bulb with this one and have not had an issue since. Great replacement part.

I haven't put this into service e yet, but my initial external inspection indicates that it is a quality item. I expected it to be as it commanded a premium price. I choses it based on the negative reviews for competing products. I was disappointed that it only included one hose clamp. Clearly a quality control issue in the packaging process as there are two hose fittings. Not a show stopper, but these companies should strive to do better, especially at the price for this bulb.

The rubber material is quite thick/substantial; and, thusly, a bit stiff. I am using this primer bulb on my 14 foot aluminum fishing boat. I located the bulb at the outboard engine. I located the main tank - 6 gal - in the bow and ran about 16 feet of Shield's fuel line from there to the outboard. It took about 50 squeezes on the bulb to get the fuel line filled thru to the carb on the engine. After that, it only takes a few squeezes to get the bulb hard. To fill the fuel line, I had to keep the bulb pointed up; but once the fuel line was filled, the bulb could be squeezed in any position. Good stuff. One last thing: since the OD of my fuel line is almost 3/4 inch, the include plastic clamps were too small to be used.
