I found these “purple†stripping discs were durable and worked well for a wide variety of applications.They remove rust and paint from metal with ease, they also work great for smoothing out light surface defects on metal surfaces and for polishing stainless steel. These are mildly abrasive, so depending on your application you may need additional surface prep.I found that “purple†discs of this type are a bit more aggressive and last longer than the “blue†discs, I have not tried the “black†variety, so I can’t comment on those.At the time of my order, the set of five discs was priced under $22, which seems like a reasonable price for the quality and durability these offer.One important note: These are FIVE INCH DIAMETER discs requiring a 7/8†arbor. As such, they may not fit all 4.5†angle grinders.I found these work best and last longest when used with a variable speed grinder set around 70%, as they are less likely to melt. (When run at 10,000 RPM, if pressed hard, they have a tendency to melt, as do all non-abrasive type wheels. In my experience, running these at a lower speed reduces heat and provides superior results.) I am pleased with these discs and have purchased more for a stainless-steel sculpture project I am working on. They have been beneficial in cleaning up the stainless and blending mild scratches prior to graining. I’m also using these to strip paint off metal for a tractor I am restoring.Bottom line: A versatile, cost effective, mildly abrasive disc that is a huge timer saver. Definitely worth having in your shop.

These discs have quickly become one of my favorite attachments for an angle grinder. It's amazing how well they work at removing paint, rust, and mill scale from steel. Anywhere you have a flat surface or some light curves these are amazing and they aren't too aggressive on the metal like a flap disc. They also work great for a deburring a piece of steel after you make a cut with a cut off wheel. I know there are different colors of these and I can't really tell the difference and I can't find a good description of what the differences are or if it is just a color difference. These things do send small chunks out that sting a little when they hit you, but it's better than a wire wheel! As with anything with an angle grinder I'm always wearing eye protection.

I used this to strip and refinish a cast iron pan. For whatever reason the seasoning started flaking off, made a mess trying to scrape/wash it all off. This disc made quick work of the old finish and took it back to bare metal in just a few minutes. It made it easy to season the pan from scratch and get it back to work. Totally made it easy and quick, I'll have some other jobs for these discs soon. I'm looking forward to using them again.

For review today, I’ve got some Merryland Strip Disc 4.5 inch Paint Rust Remover Disc for Angle Grinder, 4.5inch Purple Strip Wheel 5 Pack, Stripping Wheel Stripper Wheel INOX Stainless Steel Iron Universal, Bravo-Line SB207114-05.To start things off, at the time of my review, I cannot see any mentioned differences between their black Craft line and this purple Bravo line. Aside for the color, both say pretty much the exact same thing in the product listing so I don’t know if there is any actual difference.In comparison to a couple of different brands/types of these purple discs, the discs themselves seem to be made almost identically so should perform just fine. In the picture, the black variant is a discount tool store brand.The only real apparent difference is that these come with a 7/8†arbor hole and the others come with a 5/8†hole. The other discs are also ever so slightly larger in diameter but not enough to make any noticeable difference in usage, I suspect.Overall, either should perform equally and the Merryland are quite a bit cheaper so I’d definitely give them a look when I need more in the future.

These are really nice angle grinder pads for removing paint. They are solid and thick and really do a great job taking off the paint.

I’m no expert at operating an angle grinder, I mostly do woodworking, but I have some 1 inch stainless steel disks that I’m going to be installing on a table and need to get them polished before I use them. I’ve got everything I need to fine polish these disks to a mirror finish but had nothing that would do the initial rough removal of the cutting saw marks on the face of the disk. This black abrasive disk did the trick and removed the deeper marks left by the cutting process. After treating a couple of the disks I decided to try it on some angle iron just to see how it works on rust removal. After hitting all three items, the wheel I was using showed very little wear. I think these are going to be a great addition to my arsenal of tools on hand.

Not much to review here. It's a metal stripping disc that strips metal. Paint, rust, grime, all of it. I just stripped an old smoker that I'm rebuilding and it worked great. The discs seem to wear down about the same as the ones I get at Home Depot or Lowe's, and for a much better price, so definitely worth buying. Not sure what else to say. They work exactly like I need them to, so 5 stars for functionality.

These work great for stripping automotive paint, primer, bondo. Right down to bare metal with minimal risk of damaging the metal. Fit my Metabo 5" grinder. No wobble or vibrations. All good and they seem to last a long time.

J'avais quelques chaises en métal à décaper. Et j'ai vraiment gagné mon temps puisque en 5 minutes c'était fait alors qu'avec le décapeur thermique j'ai galéré des heures pour un résultat moyen.

We have used a similar product to this in the past and found that the disc deterioration was quite rapid so was expecting the same thing to happen with these. I have to say the performance and disc life of the Merryland strip discs was much better than we expected and easily out performed the other discs.When using this type of product you have to realise that heat is your enemy, the best approach is keep the disc moving all over the workpiece and don't over apply pressure. This way the disc and workpiece stays cooler and the whole job becomes quicker and easier. If you stay in one place too long or apply too much pressure the heat builds up rapidly and if you are removing paint it will soften with the heat and clog up the disc, heat can also distort the workpiece so you really have to get the "method" and " feel" right.The beauty of these discs is that they are not as aggressive as a flap disc and will remove much less metal when contact is made, this is great when working on thinner gauge materials and ensures that you never thin out an area too much.As I said at the start these Merryland discs easily out performed the previous discs we used and from memory both products cost about the same making the Merryland discs the obvious better option.A firm five out of five stars for performance, price and disc life/longevity.

Stavo cercando dei dischi abrasivi efficaci per rimuovere ruggine e vernice da un telaio di una vecchia auto non conoscevo questo tipo di supporti e mi sono imbattuto nei dischi CSD Merryland da 125 mm. Devo dire che sono rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso dalla loro performance.Questi dischi sono davvero robusti e duraturi. Ho lavorato su una superficie piuttosto estesa e non hanno mostrato segni di usura prematura. La loro struttura in carburo di silicio permette di rimuovere ruggine e vernice in modo rapido e preciso, senza danneggiare il metallo sottostante.
