I bought this mute kind of on a whim. I have been collecting and restoring vintage mutes for several years now, and have tried or played most of the mutes out there. I am very impressed by the construction quality. Very sturdy, yet lightweight enough not to weigh down the end of your horn. I haven't tried the copper version, but I imagine it would be heavier.It comes with a removable inner felt ring, which gives it more versatility. Intonation is spot on in all registers down to low F#. I didn't need to file the corks, but if you have trouble with the low register, filing down the corks will do the trick. Unlike some of the vintage cup mutes I've played, there aren't any notes that seem squirrelly, which is unusual for most cup mutes.This mute has a warm sound, especially for an all metal one. Projection is great without the felt, and with the felt, it can give you that really nice, intimate cup mute sound that's great right on the microphone.I can see this mute becoming one of my main go-to's, if not THE main go-to.
