Use a damper stop clamp to lock your flue open when installing a new gas log set into an existing wood burning fireplace. If the damper is not open, the carbon monoxide cannot be exhausted up and out as it should. The damper clamp prevents homeowners from accidentally leaving the damper closed while running their new gas appliance. Please check with your local building inspector and/or gas log manufacturer for specifics of installation in your area.

I used the clamp inside the chimney, and works great! It blocks the flap to close. Good quality and easy to install!

This is justa clamp that you put on your gas fireplace damper to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Very easy to put on .

This clamp was the perfect size to keep the damper open just a bit above our gas fireplace, and it was easy to install. It also came with instructions, which was cool.

This clamp works well and was pretty easy to install (given that it goes on the fireplace damper which you have to lay on your back and reach up into the fireplace to attach). The cost was fair and arrived in the designated timeframe.

Like the clip, the clip would fit my damper better if it had an Allen head bolt besides the hex head bolt that came with it. Installed my on bolt so it would clear and set the damperWhere I placed it.

This little do-hickey clamps to the damper in the flue (looking up from the fireplace) to keep it open. It adds enough weight so it will move down if the damper is closed. With a gas fireplace that has a continual pilot, this ensures co doesn’t back into the house.This was a last minute “we are selling our house and it was noted on our inspection†type of purchase. We ended up not needed it as the inspector noticed it, but told the new owners that if they wanted to save on energy costs in the summer to turn off the pilot and take it off. Don’t care, for less than $8 and 10 minutes it wasn’t an issue.**we did also install a smoke/CO detector in the room with the fireplace which the inspector thought was a good idea since it would go off first if there was a malfunction with the fireplace.
