Each pastels is individually wrapped and the set comes in a durable, protective box to keep the pastels safe and organized.
1. When using the oil pastel, you need to use a little more strength, so that the oil pastel will be attached to the paper, which is convenient for coloring.
2. The oil pastel has good coverage, so if you use the wrong color, you can cover it with the correct color oil pastel, or use a scraper, painting knife or other tools to remove it.
3. When using oil pastels of different colors alternately, be careful not to mix other colors on the oil pastel, it may cause the picture will look messy, in order to avoid uneven color mixing, if other colors are stuck, you can erase them with paper and paint them again.
4. The mud rubbing is normal, the harder oil pastels are easier to rub mud. You can wipe the mud off with your hands or tools, or remove them if you need them.
5. The edge of the oil pastel can be used to outline lines.

I got these as my main set still has plenty of life aside from the black and white pastels. These pastels are softer than the ones I am used to using (Pentel), but I am finding I like that as they cover thicker and are thus good for backgrounds and foregrounds (think black backgrounds and white clouds). I am happy.

I love Sennelier pastels more than any medium I've used in the last 30 years, but they are soooo expensive BUT worth it on certain pieces I'm working on. Often I can't even find the color I want.I wasn't going to spend $180 on white pastels for a current piece I'm working on from Sennelier so I took a chance on these and they were quite delightful. Not as buttery but fairly soft and a fraction of the price.Will try some other colors soon!-Matt

Many of the other oil pastels have been much more like chalk than oily like I remember. These are good quality and mark in the way that I want them to. I love the colors and the packaging was good too.
