This is the second Moen 3853 Tub Diverter Spout replacement. The first replacement lasted 5 years before it started leaking. I tried a Diverter repair kit, but the gate/seal fit was sloppy and leaked. The Install was simple, and the Tub/shower works like new. The 4-star material quality rating was because the gate/seal mechanism seems a little flimsy and not built to last.

I was hesitant, it seemed like it was too easy to install. But it worked just like it was supposed to! Took less than 10 minutes to go over the directions and install.

I used this to replace an expensive Kohler Alteo diverter that I could never get to divert without leaking or humming. This one works great. Barely a few drops of water come out the tub spout when the diverter is engaged. it is nice looking also - the color matched my chrome Kohler mixer handle.The measurements on the Amazon description are wrong ("3.75 x 4 x 4 inches"). The spout is 7 inches long and the water outlet falls about 6.5" from the tub wall. This is nice because it throws the water a little farther away from the drain control knob on the tub - which will never seal perfectly.The installation instructions from the company, and from a tiny piece of paper in the box, are just bizarre. It says that the 1/2" diameter pipe stub coming out of the wall should be 3 1/4" to 4 1/4" long. Good luck with that. I initially cut mine to 4" - with the spout fully seated you miss the tub wall by at least an inch. After four pipe cuts, I got it to fit properly with a pipe stub length of 3". The spout is slip fit - there are no pipe threads - it seals with a set screw.If your existing pipe stub is not the perfect length, don't install this with a hack saw. A small $15 copper pipe cutter gadget and deburring tool are worth every penny. You will need your own Allen wrench, a marker, a measuring tool, and some caulk / silicone. Installation was not that complicated once I got done scratching my head and staring at it.

It is good quality. But my copper from the was what only 1 inch out. I need to extend it with a coupler, and this spout can't move pass the coupler. I need to return it.

Exact fit and same as the one it is replacing. Was the easiest fix ever. The instructions were miniscule but I could read them with my glasses on.

I need a longer spout and the Moen 3853 Eva was a perfect replacement. It was easy to install as you are only unscrewing the old spout and screwing on the new one. Easy peasy!

Update Jan 17, 2020 : Bought in August; stopped diverting by January - ONLY LASTED 5 MONTHS!Previous review: Solid. Well made. Diverts 99% of water. Only leaks a few drops. Body is metal. Slip on type. 7†length extends past tub ledge so no water splashing backwards.
