I purchased a 30,000 BTU heater a few months back and love it. For the master bedroom & bath I've been using electric heaters. After still freezing in the back half of the house and a $600 power bill, I decided to buy another propane heater. In such a small area I certainly didn't need 20,000 BTUs but this was the smallest I could find with an actual thermostat. The thermostat works great! The range is marked 0-5 not in degrees. But they are very accurate. #2 setting keeps it at a toasty 74 degrees when it's below freezing outside.Being so large, it only runs for less than a minute cycling on & off as needed. I expect it will pay for itself the first month. It can set on the floor with the included feet or be wall mounted with the included bracket. It's a bit modern looking for my taste but the blue flame and performance more than makes up for that minor flaw.To connect it to a gas supply, you will need some brass fittings / hardware, a hose & regulator unless connected to your main supply. Every component is available on Amazon or your local hardware store. Don't forget teflon tape for the threaded pipe joints! Maintenance is quick & easy. Basically cleaning the pilot orfice of dust that may accumulate. The manual says every three months. My house apparently lacks any insulation and resembles a wind tunnel. (I bought it over the phone, without seeing it first lol. Initially I didn't care, I bought it for the land & planned on building a new house anyway. I just never imagined it could be this bad.) I'm in awe these two heaters can keep up but they do, and quite well! They are comparatively economical to operate too. Hopefully our new house will be finished before next winter. And yes, I'm transferring these heaters to the new place! If it turns out they aren't needed, I can put them in the stable to keep my horses warm. I would absolutely buy them again and highly recommend them! To clarify, the larger heater (30,000 BTU) in the living room would heat the entire house but the back is generally closed off. That's why I needed the smaller 20,000 BTU unit. FYI the thermostat in the living room is set about 2 1/4 to maintain 74 degrees. Obviously you can adjust the temperature to your liking. I prefer HOT. Shipping was fast and very well packed. UPS proof. After using them I suspect they would perform equally well in a workshop / garage where open flame wouldn't be an issue. Buy this, you will be VERY happy with it.Update... After complete satisfaction with the first two, I just bought a third for my workshop. This time Amazon suggested a hose & regulator kit which I gladly bought with it. It's somewhat of a pain in the rump to find the right hose & fittings each time. This made it really easy. Everything was included but a tank (which I already have). I think it's actually less expensive in kit form as well. I might buy #4 for the barn to spoil my horses. 😉

I hate to see reviews where the reviewer says that they haven't used it yet, but I hate to let this one go too long without my impressions of it so far. My husband wanted this for an old camper we got for my son to use in the backyard as a temporary office as he needed a quieter environment than a home with 4 small dogs was giving him. It was the beginning of winter and living in a mountain area we knew it would be getting cold soon and the propane heater in the camper was very 'iffy'. Once we got it home and cleaned up, the heater actually worked pretty well. So, we are going to use it in a wood working shop my hubby recently got and is in the process of insulating and wiring. (It's nice to have an electrician in the family!) He is also going to wire the camper better and take the power from the house out to it, so we may use an electric heater when we reach that stage. However, our brother-in-law had one of these in his house and it kept it very comfortable. This one if very similar and seems to be well built with quality materials so we don't anticipate any issues with it once he gets everything ready to go. We also read all the other reviews before getting it and it really does look like it will live up to its good rating. Since it may not be installed until early Spring, I wanted to give our impressions of it thus far. I will definitely update if we have any problems in the future.

Purchased as an emergency heat source. I've owned it for 2-1/2 years and used it 3 times most recently for about 4 days. The first time I used it was for about 24 hours when it was 38 below and my fancy high-efficiency furnace had pressure switch problems and wouldn't run. This 20k btu heater on its highest setting kept ~750 sq feet of my (not very well insulated) home pretty much comfortable but did use about a pound of propane per hour which makes sense because propane is ~21k btu per pound and this is rated to use 20k btu per hour on high. Kept us warm enough and kept the pipes from freezing until I could obtain a pressure switch for the furnace. That use case was exactly what I worried about enough to buy a back up heater. It performed admirably.Last week in temps ranging from 22 degrees at night to 38 degrees during the daytime and 20-40 mph winds sucking the heat out of my place, I ran it for just a bit less than 4 days during a power outage. I never turned it up past the #3 setting and the thermostat switched the heat on and off as expected. After ~4 days, there was still at maybe 8-10 lbs of propane left in the 30lb tank it was hooked to. I think I could have gone at least another full day without having to swap tanks.I use the included feet and don't have it permanently mounted to the wall. It's perfectly stable. I run the regulator hose to a tank outside through a casement window and just run a strip of duct tape to seal the rest of the window. And, while I do have an CO & combustible gas detector in the area where I operate this, I don't actually worry about it. So long as the flame is almost entirely blue and it isn't sputtering, then everything is working right and there's nothing to fret about. When I bought this, I understood that I needed a hose, regulator, and a 90 degree fitting. Many of the negative reviews regard folks not knowing that. I suppose in today's world where we expect instant gratification and hope to put forth zero effort, it's hard to blame them for being upset. It wasn't any sort of problem for me, though.Other complaints seem to be about noises and odor. 1) Noises. I haven't really noticed any noises that are bothersome. There's a tick when the thermostat regulates the gas up/down/on/off, but that's what mechanical thermostats do. No problem for me. 2) Odors. Yes. Burning propane indoors unvented creates a bit of an odor. It's no worse than operating a propane oven/stove. I don't find it to be overwhelmingly offensive, so no problem for me on that point, either. I will say that 2 days in to this latest use, I did choose to open a couple of windows on each side of the house for about 15 minutes once. That served to remove the odor for a while and decrease the humidity a little.
