I am a DIY mechanic in the Midwest and do 10-20 brake jobs a year on average and I can't believe I ever went without this tool. For the longest time I've used a regular square file to clean the rust out of caliper bracket channels and on average it took me 5-10 minutes a side to clean fully. This file takes that down to a trivial 30 seconds or so for a much better result. It also kicks up significantly less brake dust which is fantastic! Build quality feels great and it does the job perfectly, who could ask for more?

I saw this tool used by a guy I follow on YouTube. He gave it great reviews. I have to say, these files work amazing at removing rust from brake caliper brackets(including the grooves that are hard to get to) and other rusty metal parts. I have used them many times and they are still as sharp as when they were new. A little pricey compared to other files but well worth it. Make sure you buy both sizes!

I am a DIYer who recently replaced brakes on four vehicles some of which I wished I had this tool but for most of them I did.Pros:- Fits well in the caliper bracket unlike a traditional file- Seems well made and durable.- Does a great job scraping off the big corrosion crud- Intentional or not, it has a scraper on the tip of the smooth(top) side.Cons:- It struggled getting the metal “clean.†Maybe I was too picky but I still used sand paper or a traditional file trying to get a sand blasted level clean.

Bought this from a recommended video on youtube by the South Main Auto channel. I figured it was a glorified file, but it does a great job of cleaning the channels on a caliper without removing any metal Cleans out the rust & corrosion without damaging the good metal. Great tool!

I bought a china made brake file that was softer then the brake caliper. This German made file is tough and sharp cuts the rust down to bare metal.

The file appears to be in new condition, however the original plastic packaging had the end ripped off. When I opened the outer packaging, the file fell out of the packaging to the floor. Clearly this was a returned item.
