About this item

  • 【Flexible Exposure Control】 This variable ND2-400 filter offers limited 1-9 stops of light reduction. Rotate it to precise stops for desired ND values and perfectly exposed pictures. Note: A dark X pattern may appear at maximum aperture. This normal phenomenon occurs when the variable ND filter, with its two polarizing filters aligned at a specific angle, interacts with certain lenses and focal lengths
  • 【Precise ND Value Adjustment】 Precise markings enable you to achieve desired neutral density values effortlessly and accurately through rotation
  • 【Multicoated Optical Glass】 Optical glass ensures high clarity and accurate color reproduction. Multiple coatings on both sides of the glass are resistant to water, fingerprints, smudge, and scratches, making filters easy to clean (a cleaning cloth is included)
  • 【Slim Aluminum Alloy Frame】 Crafted with black anodized aluminum alloy for exceptional durability, the slim frame also avoids unwanted vignettes on wide angle lenses. CNC precision threading ensures effortless installation and removal
  • 【Confirm Filter Compatibility】 Suitable for any camera lens with a filter size of 82mm. The filter size is marked on the front or side of your lens, next to a "ø" (diameter) symbol. Please confirm before purchasing

I have a couple other Neewer lens filters, mostly UV, but I found them to be high quality and a very solid value. This ND filter is just as nice as more expensive options, has a metal ring and high quality glass. The variable ND is easy to change and it rotates pretty smoothly and so far in my admittedly limited use, it does seem to be spot on. It also comes with a nice little carrying box to keep it protected, which I really appreciate. Overall, it’s quite nice, functions as it should and is a really good value that I’d recommend to anyone.

At best I consider myself to a a hobbyist photographer, and I like to humor myself with landscape and outdoor portrait photography. I've not yet mastered the art of light or white level reading, but I'm just kind of crash and burn learning through experimentation. I have had great results with Neewer products before, and I got this adjustable ND filter on a whim. The threads easily matched up with my lens and securely snugged the filter into place. The darkening level is simple to adjust with just a gentle twisting of the end, just like using manual fine focusing. The light end of the filtering spectrum is just barely noticeable, while the dark end is only usable outside in sunlight. I enjoy using filters, and this one has me impressed. I love what I'm able to do with it, and I love having another awesome product from Neewer in my kit.

If we lived in a world where folks followed simple reviewers, those folks would see that I gush over Neewer as a brand. Their stuff is always better than the price they are asking. To keep things affordable, they cut corners in the most creatively non-impactful places, and reinforce areas that matter. If it weren't for Neewer gear, my profitability would be lower not only because they keep their gear affordable, but also because they changed the pricing game. Big brands like Bogen/Manfrotto have decreased their prices over the years to stay competitive with brands like Neewer. For that, I will always appreciate them. The filter itself is great. Is it the finest glass on the planet? No. Does that matter to most of us? No. We're not all shooting IMAX films. The build quality is great and the outer ring turns easily enough to get the job done. The ND settings appear, to the naked eye, to be fairly accurate.

I like that this is variable, and not fixed like my previous pack of 6 filters. It beats keeping up with 6 vs just this single filter. It works well, and so far, and I haven’t seen much CA (chromatic aberration) from it, and I haven’t noticed too much softening of the image. My lens seems just as sharp as without the filter. This would be a great filter for someone wanting to do moon pics, or other situations where you need to tone down bright lights to get the shot you need. I’ve been a pro photographer for about 15 years, and I’d rate this ND filter a 7 on a scale of 1–10 when compared to some of the trash out there and some of the premier ND filters that would otherwise set you back a limb or two. 4/5 stars for Amazon purposes. 😉

I have used various Neewer photographic related accessories over the past several years and have been generally pleased with their quality and performance. This Neewer True Colors Variable ND2-ND400 Filter appears to be no exception to my other positive Neewer product experiences. The durability of the filter (aluminum with matte black finish), as well as the apparent quality of glass and smooth function (moving from one degree of darkening to the next) all contribute to this being an apparently very well-designed & manufactured photographic accessory. I am also very pleased with the quality of machining of the threads of the filter as it is easily installed and uninstalled on my 58mm diameter lenses without any impression of stubborn hanging up/roughness.After taking a series of 3 photos, using the filter's first 3 variable ND settings, it appears color representation is remaining accurate (see attached pictures). I recommend this quality, well-made Neewer product, which is offered at an attractive and competitive price point.

This here is a huge range ND filter. Works perfect for my film camera lenses. Feels great, not like the cheap plastic ones and I've not seen any noticable degredation or color casts aside from the wanted darkening of the image.

This was incredible while using it to take long exposures of waterfalls. It came in a well protected case, the threads fit easily on my EF lens, and was able to be removed easily. The vairable ND filter allows for greater control over the light entering the lens so that longer exposures can be possible during daylight hours.Highly recommended.

I really like this filter... it has replaced a total of 10 individual filters that I would have to swap for increasing ND levels. This saves so much time because I don't want to fumble around and change filters when timing is everything because you can't stop the sun. And the price? Way cheaper than buying an entire set of filters. It also saves a ton of space and less extra weight in my camera bag. I like it.
