Purchased the regular length version of this strap earlier this year for use with an Alto sax. I'm a 5'10" male and found that when sitting the strap, when fully extended, was just a little short for my comfort. This XL length strap adjusts easily and I am able to get a better length placement for the sax. Wish I had purchased this one first.

I am in the Ohio University Marching 110, so we do a lot of dancing and quick movements that require the removal of the neckstrap from the saxophone. I have had a clip version of this neckstrap for years, but the hook version I just bought works great and it makes it so much easier to unhook my saxophone. I have not really had a problem with the hook coming out on accident when marching and playing as well. The padding is stiffer than I'm used to, but I'm sure it will just take some time to break in like my old neckstrap.

This is for the regular size strap. I am an adult player and initially bought this to use with my bass clarinet. Unfortunately, the strap length was short by about 2 inches for me. The strap measures a maximum 20 inches in length from the middle of the neck pad to the opening of the hook. The open circle measures 36 inches. This does not include the length below the strap adjuster and hook; that part measures about 2 1/4 inches. The neoprene pad does not smell overly of chemicals and is soft but firm. The straps I think are nylon (?) and are soft to the touch but are strong. The plastic buckles feel thick without being too heavy. The pad at rest is about 14 inches but can stretch to about 16 1/2 inches when pulled tightly. When I attached my bass clarinet there was not too much give in the pad. I have long hair and I liked how my hair did not get pulled or the skin of my neck pinched. The overall quality of product/workmanship is very good. I only returned it because the length did not fit my needs. I will probably look into the same product but in a long size which is supposed to be between 19-26 inches.

COATED METAL HOOK does not stay coated, exposed tip of hook is rough and sharp, can scratch your hands and your horn.I need to switch horns quickly so I want an open hook, and I've never trusted open plastic hooks. So I have two of these. The coating on the hook came off of both.Would be nice if they would grind the tips so that they are smooth when exposed. As it is they are sharp and can scratch your hands and your horns.

Too short for my alto. Don't really care for the configuration of it. I'll use it as a backup rather than primary.

This is great for the marching band. A tenor sax can get pretty heavy for an 8th grader, so having the cushioned strap has really helped a lot.

Use it for my tenor. Nicely spreads the load and strain. Check/test the various sizes. I'm tall (6'2") and this size fits well - but I'd probably run out of tightening room if I had to go up much more. Also be sure to get the hook style you like. I prefer open METAL hooks for durability and quick changes when doubling. (I have a spring-clip strap for my bari and find it irritating during changes. And I hate hate HATE the plastic clips that come on some straps - heard too many horror stories about them cracking in the middle of a gig after heavy use.)

Needs to be a little longer ..... I'm not a giant (6'tall) but I would ideally let it out about 1/2 an inch further ... :-(
