This chiller is amazing! I couldn't quite believe how fast it dropped temperature. The fact that it is all male fittings proved a minor headache simply because it meant a trip to the hardware store during the COVID shutdown, but normally this wouldn't have been a problem. It's easy to clean, easy to use and has done a great job on several batches so far.

I replaced another CFC that used a copper coil inside a heavy duty hose. I wanted a stainless version. The smaller 3/8 OD tubing is in theory better than 1/2 OD due to contact area but it does restrict flow. So if you're recirculating back into your kettle for whirlpool, it does seem to weaken the flow rate. I do like the small overall size and ease of cleaning.Assuming you're connecting a water hose for the cold water connection, you'll need a female-female adapter to connect the make end of the hose to the male on the CFC.

Took wort from a rolling boil to 70* in 10 minutes. Does exactly what it should. Only issue I had was putting fittings on the top wort port. It bent slightly when I was tightening the fittings, but I was tightening very hard. Would definitely buy this again!!

This is a really high quality item at a reasonable price. Not as fast as a plate chiller but acceptable. Looks great with my Brewtolls B40, and is longer than theirs, so a little more efficient.

Depending on how you're mounting this coil, gravity will take over and the coils will separate slightly. I added zip ties to solve this problem. Another issue is that both garden hose connections are male! Serious design issue here! You need to run to your favorite orange, blue, red, or green home center to get a male to female garden hose connection - don't overlook this detail.

This is my third chiller, but the first of this type. It’s the fastest and easiest to clean too. Much easier than my plate chiller. Very happy with this purchase.

I missed it in the picture, but it comes with two male ends. Have to buy an additional adapter to use this.

I’m not going to mention warmth, packaging or thickness as those are all irrelevant. This thing is well made but creates a lot of restriction that my chugger pump slows to a crawl. This will not work in line to chill during whirlpool. If you just need to chill but don’t need the exit speed to be anything, this will work fine. Not sure if it will work at all in a gravity fed setup though as it barely flows under pressure.

Now I've used this for the first time I'm happy to say it's a great product and a recommended upgrade. It took me about 10 minutes to chill 20 litres of beer to pitching temp. It's a reassuringly solid construction and being stainless steel hopefully it should last a long time. This has improved my brew day in several ways. Firstly the reduction in time, not only because the chilling time is quicker but also because chilling and transfer to the fermenter are done simultaneously. It might only be a matter of minutes, but the removal of one step from the process is very welcome.I also find it more convenient attaching this externally rather than having to dump a chiller into the kettle during the boil. I've read that there are also benefits to having small amounts of wort rapidly chilled, rather than a large amount slowly chilled, but I'm not a scientific enough home brewer to be able to verify this!In terms of negatives, I think it would be difficult to work without a pump, and even with one it can be a bit tricky. I'm looking to add a bleed valve to mine in addition to the throttle valve. You also need to factor in the cost of attachments. I couldn't find many suppliers of US NPT camlock (or adapter) fittings and ended up having to pay a high price for imports from the US. It may be more economical to find a UK supplier of an alternative product, but at the time I was buying there weren't any available. Finally the Amazon US import service worked really well. Compared to ordering directly with a US supplier, having to pay FX fees, customs fees, delivery fees, admin fees for processing customs fees and waiting weeks for all this to be resolved, it was very simple and quick.
