A ver nice four piece kit! Well made caliper, 1†micrometer, ruler and calibration tool! All conveniently housed in a nice plastic case. Heck of a deal!

I am not a professional machinist that needs tools accurate to ten thousandth of an inch. I just need to check the size of bolts or hole diameters so I get the right stuff for my DIY projects. I also own a plastic version of the vernier caliper. It is to bendy and sloppy to be much good. This unit is a sturdy metal device that gives consistent and accurate enough readings for all my needs. I considered a battery operated read-out caliper. Then I remembered how many other tools I have with batteries that are all too often dead when I really need to measure something. These calipers won't go dead. For the price they are a real deal.

I've seen several reviews of people complaining that these don't measure in 1/8th inch increments but I would like to clarify that these can measure down to 0.001 inch increments which is way better. If you really want then you can even ignore the extra digits and round to 0.025" increments (each smallest tick mark on the top scale running down the handle lining up with the 0 on the moving part) which can be used to find the elusive 1/8th (0.125). If you can remember that then this will still be more useful than a tape measure. It is probably confusing for someone who hasn't used them before but how they work is literally in the name "Vernier Calipers". Just Google how to use Vernier Calipers for anyone who isn't familiar with how they work. It does take a little getting used to but it's totally worth it. Never worry about replacing a battery in a digital pair again.

For the price, this is a very good deal on a tool. I just received it, and my only complaint is that what appears to be a thumbwheel which might allow you to roll to a more precise measurement is actually a fixed disc of stainless steel. And I'll note that the set screw which allows you to fix a measurement only turns about 1/3 of a turn between fully open and fully screwed-down.The plastic case it came with is utilitarian and seems reasonably sturdy. Mine arrived with a cracked corner, but I think I'm not going to worry about that. Also note that this thing came with no instructions whatsoever. This isn't a problem for me, but it's worth noting.Still, none of these observations is a complaint. I think this caliper will do a very nice job of measuring nuts, bolts, and other small objects that I'm planning to measure. It's solidly constructed and seems to be nicely machined. It's probably not the tool to use if you are going to machine metal to tight tolerances. But for day-to-day reasonably precise measurements, this is a terrific value for home use.

im giving this an overall 5 star rating because im not doing precise machine measuring. im a guitar hobbiest and the micrometer is only for checking string gauges. it works fine for that. the caliper on the other hand will be great for checking nut widths and thickness'. this pretty good quality for garage woodworking i only wish the measurment indications were in inches, 1/16, 1/8, 1/4 etc... i end up placing the caliper on a standard ruler lol. good enough, it didnt break the bank.

I bought this because it included the Micrometer for only $4 more. The Caliper is off by .002 or more and is a sloppy fit. This makes it OK for wood working but not so good for anything where the measurement matters. However, the micrometer makes up for the disappointment. It has carbide on the anvil and face and has a good smooth feel. The faces are also parallel. I give the caliper a two star (generous) and add one star for the micrometer. If it has been just the micrometer (and the price was lower) I would have given it four stars - it is still a cheap micrometer without a tenths scale.

A well-construction tool. Just as accurate as the electronic ones, but without batteries to wear out. Easy to read once you understand how it works--these things have been around for centuries.

well made & finished. Accurate to at least 1/100 of a millimetre which is good enough for most people. I was concerned as no ratings on this & reviews on many rated similar items highlighted poor fit, accuracy & finish. This however was all I could wish for. A real quality item and no I have not received any incentive to give a good review.

Good quality item - scale is accurate, still sliding well after many weeks of daily dusty use too.

I returned this and purchased the one I really wanted at a higher price.

I cannot understand why this product that generally seems of reasonable quality for the price, does not have a proper thumbwheel driver, like other similar products do, but instead has a fixed semicircular knob posing as one. It would be so much more useful to have the fine drive capability the standard working thumbwheel.
