I bought this for my daughter whom I am just begging to teach to play clarinet. I've used a leather ligature for a few decades now and this seemed like it would be comparable to what I use. I was disappointed when I got it as it doesn't appear to be real leather. Also I'm not a fan of the plastic inside that touches the reed, I am not sure it's purpose and it makes it more difficult to adjust the reed properly. The screw also doesn't loosen properly, with the ligature getting caught on the threads so you have to use your finger to pry it loose after unscrewing it.Despite the stated drawbacks, it is still an upgrade from the original metal ligature and will do for our beginner purposes.

I've been playing saxophone for almost 15 years and decided to start learning the clarinet. I use a rovner ligature on the saxophone but was trying to get a cheaper option for my clarinet. With that being said, this is one of the worst ligatures I have ever used. Right out of the box it stopped tightening due to loose metal parts. I super glued them back together and now it does not tighten past a certain point. It is also fits very tight on the mouthpiece making it very difficult to put your reed on. I do NOT recommend getting this ligature, I would spend a little extra and get a rovner.

My daughter is 2nd year clarinet student wanting to try leather ligature.. this is similar in feel, and holds snug enough to create the warmer tone.EDIT:After less than 1 year, the screw is stripped (the head-end 'spins'). OK, but didn't last.

The little leather “tongue†behind the screw threads, as shown in the product photo was not on the ligature I received. As a result the screw left scratches on the mouthpiece. Also the product is very tight and challenging for a young beginner to put in place.
