**Draft Review:**I've been using the Orion Motor Tech 3-Gallon Vacuum Chamber with the included 3.5 cfm pump for a few weeks now, and I'm impressed with how reliable it is—even in the dusty chaos of my woodshop. Most of the time, it seals right up and pulls a vacuum without a hitch. On those rare occasions where it doesn't, a quick wipe of the lid's edge with a damp cloth puts it back in business. The instructions claim all bubbles should be gone in about ten minutes, but I’m still seeing a few stubborn stragglers in my epoxy resin. Oddly enough, once I kill the vacuum and open the air valve, the last few bubbles vanish. I’m new to epoxy work, though, so I’m holding off on any deductions—it might be more about my technique than the tool’s performance.A few extra points that might be worth mentioning if you’re on the fence: The pump is relatively quiet for its size (just don't expect whisper-level hush), the gauge is easy to read, and the chamber’s acrylic lid is thick and clear, giving you a good view of what’s happening inside. The construction feels solid and is holding up well, even with constant exposure to dust and frequent cleaning. Setting up was straightforward, and the included instructions are decent—something that’s often overlooked in equipment like this. All in all, for a vacuum-chamber rookie like me, this kit does what it promises and seems built to last. If you're considering it for resin casting, degassing silicone, or other similar projects, it's a solid investment.

Easy enough to follow the directions for assembly, and once I fired it up it pulls just shy of 1 bar which was enough to get the bubbles out of my resin. When I removed it from the box there was some oil on the outside of the pump, which was simple to clean off. I also purchased pump oil with this so I drained what was left of the shipping oil and filled it to the line. First time I started it I had a little oil come up through the top but nothing a quick dab of a paper towel didn’t handle.Overall it’s easy to use, the value is great considering it is an inexpensive option, and it feels solid.

Overall, a great product and would purchase again. That being said there are some critics. First are minor and did not affect lost star. The instructions say to take to "30" of vacuum". The system would not take to that level, maxing out at ~23". The system has no leaks (when vacuum valve closed and pump turned off the system held at 23" for 2 hours, and the cactus juice bubbled the whole time. I suspect the issue is the gage is not calibrated or just inherently inaccurate. In the end as long as the system pulls a vacuum sufficient for the intended purpose, success. I took a star off for two reasons. First, the instructions are horrible. For no additional cost, pictures of each process could easily be added, as well as more clear instructions. An example is where to wrap the Teflon tape (provided). The second reason is the hose clamps suck. Turning them closed with any screw driver caused them both to strip. The reason is the screw follow through hole on the screw cage was not completely clear. A 5mm socket wrench allowed me to torque it enough to break through to the other side. One of them the hex head was poorly milled with a gob of metal keeping the socket from fitting. Bottom line, I recommend working the hose clamp before attaching it. Don't be surprised if you have to purchase a hose clamp. Another thing that spending a couple cents more on a little bit better hose clamp would be great. Anyway, assembly took about 15 minutes (most of that time spent jacking with the rinkydink hose clamps). For a budget vacuum tank it works great.

The metal pot that came with my original kit was defective. No matter what I did, it would not create a vacuum. I reached out to Orion and they made it right!!I am now very, very happy! I use this is degas resin and it saves me so much hassle when it comes to bubbles and voids forming. I would say that this is essential equipment if you are serious about making dice. Now that I have a good pot, it reaches the necessary vacuum pressure within seconds. I just shut off the pump and walk away for 5-7 minutes. Make sure you put a stir stick in the container to make sure that the bubbles don't ever 'boil over' and make the resin spill. Also, release the pressure back into the pot very slowly to avoid the resin from splashing up out of the container.Overall, I am super happy with the product and ecstatic with the customer service I received.Original Review: The pump sucks air, but the pot does not ever build up a vacuum. The instructions are quite poor.

The pump is quickly takes vacuum down to a full vacuum on the included gauge. I don't have a micron gauge, so can't tell if it gets down to AC/Refrigeration levels, but suspect that it does given the good behaviour. It has been run for about a half hour total so far, with many individual powerings on, and has worked perfectly every time. It seems to work flawlessly as far as I can tell without a more sensitive vacuum gauge. I will be using it a fair bit for the next several weeks, and will report back if the pump changes behaviour.Purchasers should note that the lid is acrylic, not glass. When I first purchased the set, one of the illustration photos showed a glass lid, presumably from an earlier version of the product. I saw the statement on the photo, and missed the comment in the text, and thought I was ordering a set with a glass lid. The acrylic lid and included valve and gauge system work perfectly, but I preferred a glass lid. I pointed out the inconsistency to Orion Motor Tech, and they generously and quickly offered a full refund, but I elected to keep the kit because I like the pump, and can work around the lid issue. OMT was unaware of the inconsistency until I provided a screenshot showing where the incorrect information was. Their response was to immediately apologize for the confusion and state that they would pass the information on to the necessary department to have the matter corrected. In a nutshell, the company's response to my concerns was quick, thorough, and generous.Bottom line is that both Orion Motor Tech, and this kit are highly recommended. I would not hesitate to purchase from Orion Motor Tech again.

When I received the unit, it was completely soaked in oil and had to be wiped down. After assembling the unit, filling it with oil and turning it on, I noticed the motor smoking a bit. Figured that goes away eventually with use.But this unit didn't live long enough to burn off the excess oil.I ran it for 2-3 minutes the first time, without issue. Then the second time I tried to run it, it turned itself off after a minute or two.I let it sit for a half hour in case it was overheated and it still didn't turn on. So I waited a day. Still won't turn on.It just buzzes at me when I connect power. Now the piece I was working on is hardened and full of bubbles.
