About this item

  • Natural boar bristles retain softness and pliability better than synthetics
  • Thick bristles hold more liquid for more efficient basting
  • Angled head design ensures bristles don’t touch countertops
  • Soft, comfortable non-slip grips
  • Safe for non-stick and Ceramic.

Both sweet and savory cooks will benefit from the OXO Good Grips Natural Pastry Brush. It’s built with natural boar bristles, which retain softness and pliability. Each bristle is thick so that you can deliver more basting liquid and make quicker work of applying egg washes, glazes, butters, syrups and sauces. The angled head keeps the bristles off the counter, so both your brush and your work surfaces stay cleaner. The soft, non-slip handle is comfortable to grip, and the brush is dishwasher safe.

We got this because the silicone brush was just not cutting it. This brush holds plenty of liquid and delivers it evenly and quickly. So much better!

This brush sheds bristles excessively. Despite expecting some shedding, especially with brushes made with natural animal hair, the sheer amount of bristle loss is unacceptable and indicates poor mounting. Even with a gentle stroke, I consistently find at least six bristles coming loose. This level of shedding greatly impacts the appearance of products in my micro bakery kitchen.Initially, I suspected a defective brush, but unfortunately, it seems that is not the case. The OXO representative indicated that this shedding is to be expected due to the brush's "natural bristles." This is not true. If mounted properly one might pick up a couple of bristles, but not 10 and more. I prefer working with brushes that have natural bristles and this is the first one in over 30 years that I am discarding after a couple of uses.I cannot continue using a brush that compromises the quality of my work. Therefore, I have no choice but to discard it. This is disappointing, especially considering my frequent purchase of OXO products, which have typically offered a great price/quality ratio. This situation is a sad exception to that trend.I generally contact sellers before rating a product, as most issues can be resolved through communication. However, OXO appears to be an exception to this rule, as their response has been unsatisfactory. In summary, I would advise against purchasing OXO brushes, as the shedding bristles pose a significant problem. The natural color of these bristles makes it challenging to remove them entirely from your creations, further exacerbating the issue.

Needed a replacement and hoping this one holds up well. Seems to be good quality

I have struggled for quite a while finding a pastry brush I like. I kept trying silicone brushes - reviews said they were great, but I found several styles to be ungainly and not gentle enough. I found good reviews for this one and the price is great, so I tried it. WOW! It works great on my mallorcas, Japanese milk buns, rolled breads, etc. It is gentler than I thought it would be, even though the bristles are pretty stiff. I love the slightly "bent" handle so I can put it down on the counter without getting butter or egg wash all over. It does shed a bristle or two about every use, so you have to watch out for that - easy enough to pick off though.

Bristles fall out every time it is used. We told the company about it and they sent another one right away. Sadly the replacement one wasn’t any better. Bristles fall out every use. We only use it to buttter tops of buns and bread. I would not recommend buying this product.

I really had hopes of having a nice pastry brush since the brand oxo is generally a quality brand, but this product is not even useable. The only reason I gave it two stars instead of one is because I can return it. I used it once and I’m still finding hairs in my tub of butter. And I had to pick the hairs off the top of my sourdough sandwich bread loaf that I tried to butter with it. I could not believe how many hairs it was losing on the first use just trying to butter the top of a loaf of bread. The size is good, but the design is terrible- it’s like half the bristles aren’t attached. I washed it and it was easy to clean, but again hairs came out. Baking ability- zero. I will stick to my silicone one.

I'd just like to start by saying I generally love OXO products but I'm not sure how well this is going to last and the quality is suspect. Immediately upon opening some bristles fell out and there are a few that stick out at an angle from the rest of the bristles that won't lay flat with all the rest. Going to keep it and at least use it a few times before I give a 100% yes or no (will update my review) but I bought a new pastry brush so I wouldn't have to pick brush hairs out of my cooking, and this might defeat that purpose. Kind of have a feeling I might end up at Williams-Sonoma haha.

It looks great, but it doesn't work. It is just simply a defective product. Amazon shouldn't allowed to be sold in here. In fact, this makes me feel that i can't trust amazon anymore , as they allowed defective products to be sold in their app.
