Both mom and dad fit comfortably inside. This was the first fertile clutch, and I’m nosy, so I cut the end piece out to be able to check on them more easily. They nibble here and there on the wood but it’s been about 6 weeks and it’s still doing its job! Droppings get kicked around and go through pine sheddings from the babies, a lot got to the bottom wood, so I line it with paper towels and change daily to try to preserve it better.. but other than that it’s great. Holding 3 babies and parents.

Should work great. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the hole for the front dowel wasn't big enough, so had to make it fit. The wood is very soft, we will see if it stands up. This is a big box, might have been able to use the large but I wanted them to have plenty of room to be in there together and they do have a large condo style cage so I knew it would fit. So might want to measure your cage before you purchase an XL to make sure you have enough room for it. Also wish it had the concave bottom mentioned by another reviewer, but I'll make sure they have enough bedding so that will hopefully not be a problem.

I love that this can be mounted on the outside of the cage giving the bird a lot more space in the cage. As soon as I mounted it on the cage, my Caique poked her head in for a couple of minutes before climbing in to explore it. Then she spent about 40 minutes inside whistling and happily exploring! She sleeps in there every night and absolutely loves it!!

My cockatiels love this box- maybe a bit too much. As you can see from the photo, they have chewed through this in no time. (That’s after 2 days!) I’m hoping it will last through hatching season. The wood is too soft to last very long. Also- make sure you pay attention to the dimensions. This box (xl) is big and might not fit a lot of cages. Good design and easily comfortable for both my birds to fit in at the same time. Would give higher rating if wood was stronger.

It is well made but a bit small for cockatiels. The hole is also a bit small for cockatiels. Good size for smaller birds.
