Equal to Sennelier. I mean. Equal. I have both. There’s no quality difference.

I don't like the tube's they come in, it's annoying to deal with too many small parts. The foam should be attached to the lid, and one side should open. It's a mess other than that they are decent.

These large oil pastels are perfect for a base for skies. Lay down a layer of the white and then use a color over it and smudge it together to make clouds. The white paint sticks are very smooth and creamy and will cover a large area. I'm very happy with this version of oil pastels. In fact, so much so that I ordered and use a set of Paul Reubens regular size oil pastels mixed with my Sennelier oil pastels. Paul Reubens has turned out to be an excellent source of high quality art materials, whether it's oil pastels or watercolors. I highly recommend them.

I thought them being individually wrapped was over doing it. Now I understand - these are pretty rad, but very messy! If you put them in a shoebox you'll never tell which from which. Now onto color.Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but the pallette takes a little getting used to. It's hard to describe, maybe muted, a little eastern european. You must use fixative. Only one has snapped. The paper wrapped is designed to fall off over time. The paper wrapper will become covered in mess.

I have always wanted to try oil pastels and this set has helped me explore this and enjoy the results. The colors are very bright and I really like the large size of the pastels which makes them easier to hold. The texture was very smooth and it was nice to experiment with how to blend the colors to achieve different effects. This is a great set for me to start with and will serve me well as I gain more experience with the techniques.

I love the size of this product, but the formula is too oily for me. It makes layering color a challenge.

This is my first time working with oil paints. My more experienced friends say these aren't "pastels" but oil paint sticks. I found them pretty easy to work with, just messy but that's the material not the product.

I am not a big oil pastel artist I use mostly acrylic and gouache, inks etc . I purchased these and now see how wonderful oil pastels are ! These sets are magnificent . They are like large tubes of lipstick with such a soft consistency and amazing strong pigmentation . The range of colours are impressive and really just scream at you to make art !! I highly recommend as an artist to try these , you won’t regret it ! They are presented beautifully too . The photo shows both Set A and Set B . The middle show one set blended with white .

QUALITY: Consistent softnesss and coverage and free of oil on the outside! I look forward to having more colors available.PACKAGING: Each pastel was individually packaged in a tube and the tubes were in a nice back cardboard board with a magnetic enclosure. Despite the care taken in packaging and presentation, the packaging didn't appeal to me because:1) one of the pastel tubes was VERY difficult to remove. Someone with arthritis may not be able to use them.2) I find it inconvenient to look for the color I want amongst all of the 12 tubes in each of the boxes and uncap it to use it. In contrast, when pastels are packaged in a box with foam cut-outs, they are readily available upon opening the box. Perhaps there's a good reason why PR chose to package each pastel individually in a tube that has to be opened when you want to use the color or put it away?3) Although the paper wrapper is really nice, the labeling should be clearer. There seems to be a lot of confusion about exactly WHAT the product is (i.e. oil pastels or paint sticks) because it affects whether people want the product and HOW to use it. I believe these are oil pastels and, if that's true, just label them like the Haiya oil pastels?4) Although some of the cadmium or cobalt-containing pigments may be considered safe and not require labeling, it is a courtesy to include a warning symbol on the respective pastels.Overall, I think I like them but am not sure how much I'll use them. i may revisit and perhaps upgrade my rating if I find them useful.

I’m a full-time, professional artist and as soon as I saw these in the listing and photos from someone else’s review, I knew what they were and they are not “oil pastels” as the listing says. These are actually OIL PAINT STICKS and they are wonderful. I think something got lost in the translation.Do not be dissuaded by a poor review from someone who is not familiar with oil paint sticks. If she thought she was getting oil pastels, yes, she will be thrown off and not happy with how they work, but if you know what oil paint sticks are, you WILL be happy.Yes, they are messy, but that’s how oil paint sticks are, we often wear gloves when working with them. These are rich and creamy, very nice to work with. While it hasn’t happened to me yet with these, it is normal for oil paint sticks to create a harder skin to protect itself. You just peel that skin off and discard to get at the creamy innards again. But these ones actually come in individual plastic cylinders with sponge ends and caps to seal them off. It also helps to keep them from contaminating each other. Oil paint sticks last a long time, but when you do finish one, I’d advise keeping those cylinders for use with future oil paint sticks, not all of them come with those.Yes, they are large. That is how oil paint sticks come and some are even much fatter. You use them differently than oil pastels which are skinnier. Sometimes we’ll paint directly with it, but usually just to get oil paint stick on the substrate, not to actually paint or draw with. Sometimes we will dig into it with a palette knife. Sometimes we will use a paint brush on it to draw some of it onto the brush. Once on the substrate, we’ll use different tools like Softt sponge applicators, makeup sponges, palette knives, or a gloved finger to push and blend the paint. As one reviewer noted, they are not water soluble, but that is a given as they are an oil-based product. We will often use solvents, mineral spirits, whatever you’d use with any oil paint to blend or clean. This set also came in a beautiful, good quality box with a magnetic closure. They are a great value at this price of $59.98 (list price at the time of this review) and they are a fantastic quality. I very highly recommend them.
