I've spooled hundreds and hundreds of spools over my life, and I've always done it pretty much a couple different ways. Usually, its take off the shoes, put a pencil in the spool, and hold the pencil between my two feet, adjusting tension. Alternatively, if I have someone nearby, I'll ask them to hold the pencil/stick, but basically the same process. Not hard, but not super convenient. I've seen these fancy spooling devices for years, but finally decided to try one, mostly because this one is inexpensive but looks like it's engineered well.This line spooler basically does the SAME EXACT thing I've always done, but 10x easier. Does it really help with line twist? Not really. But it is easier to use, especially when I'm alone.Yep, I'm glad I have this device now. It gets the job done effectively without having to take off socks!

My husband says this works as described. The spooler even handles his large bulk spool of 1000 yards of line, which is 1.5" thick. It will be real handy each time he reverses the line on his reels, in combination with using his drill to put the line from the reel onto a spool and then onto another spool and then back onto the reel. Reversing the line saves having to buy new line when it is only one end of the line that has been beginning to wear out. The spooler is well made, good engineering, he likes the adjustable tension, the elastic strap provides additional tension, which is more than he needs. The clamp is versatile to use on the edge of a table or on the rod. Red push buttons to release are nice tool. Great product!

This is a nice fishing line spooler — way better than the nail in my wall. It attaches to a shelf or your rod and has a spindle to hold you spool of line. The spindle is adjustable and will hold any size spindle a recreational angler would use. It has an elastic band with a hole in it so you can put it around the spool, adjust the tension and feed your line through the hole to keep the spool from freewheeling. My only concern is spooliing onto a spinning reel — if you set it up the way they show, it seems like you’d get some line twist, which I hate. But if you pat attention to orientation of the spool and of your rod, you should be able to get the reel and spool oriented the same way to avoid twist. The materials are nice hard plastic and the design and build are very high quality.

This is an example of the perfect implementation of product design to fulfill a need. Snaps to table or rod, provides tension and simple to setup and use. Fits various spool sizes.I have spooled many many reels and it always is far from optimal and requires usually both feet, both hands, and dexterity in a couple of fingers to provide some tension. Often the spool pops out or something goes awry.Simple design, great manufacturing, and a very reasonable price.

I was surprised at the sturdy construction of this device, expecting a much less hefty plastic tool. The parts are castings but look as thought they were machined out of solid plastic. The design is well thought out, simple yet very effective. For years I've stuck a pencil through a fishing line spool and mounted it in a vice to load reels. I had to provide the tensionwith one hand while turning the reel handle with my other hand. This tool solves all those issues, all you do is turn your reel's handle to fill the spool. I like everything about this tool.
