Needed good, sterile dishes in a pinch so I resorted to Amazon. The first batch I ordered came advertised as sterile, however they arrived in a perforated sleeve, thus, non-sterile. Another batch arrived with damaged sleeves, thus, non-sterile. Took another chance on these, and they arrived fully intact and in a sturdy plastic sleeve, free of any damage. The dishes are good quality, sterile, and served their purpose. To address some of the negative reviews... Some people complained about the size; 60x15mm is clearly shown in the description. Some people complained that the lids are oversized and don't "snap" into place. What? Petri dishes lids are traditionally held on by gravity, and have a slightly tapered lid to make working with them easier. Some people complained that they weren't individually packaged; yet petri dishes are always sold in sleeves at a quantity of 10-25 per sleeve, and rarely, if ever individually packaged. Some people complained that they were made of thin plastic; yet I found these to be fairly sturdy for your run-of-the-mill dishes. Disposable petri dishes are always going to be thin plastic, and not designed to be heavy duty.Well, I think that about covers it. If you're going to use these dishes for their true use, as in, sciency stuff - then they will work out just fine for you. They're a bit overpriced compared to most disposable dishes, however it's to be expected to pay a premium to have a low quantity of quality dishes quickly delivered to your door.If you plan in using them for some kind of storage or other unconventional use, then perhaps you should take heed and note my explanation above.

I bought these to use with my Pandemic Legacy board game, and I cannot TELL you how perfect they are. They are the perfect size to hold one color of disease cubes each. It couldn't get any closer to being the correct size. We also put the pawns, research stations, and other game pieces in them as well. It really helps set-up time go faster than opening the tiny zip lock bags and dumping the components out in piles. They also fit in the game box nicely. After you open the first sealed legacy box, keep the empty box. These petri dishes fit nearly perfectly in there. 6 fit in each little box. Of course the lids don't snap or seal closed - it's a petri dish. If you want a small container that snaps closed, look in the dollar store. I love these little dishes. By putting them in the "box 1" like I just told you about, you don't have to worry about the lids coming off because they fit so snugly. I might even get more to store game pieces of other board games, because I like them so much. It really helps clean-up time, too, and enhances the game experience.Edit: Pandemic Legacy comes with a lot of components. You may want to buy two orders of petri dishes to hold everything.

It was MY fault for not looking at a ruler to see HOW big 150 mm was. I was envisioning about half the size they actually are, but they'll still work. It just made me laugh. They are what you'd expect, all in perfect condition. Came faster than promised. :) The kids will LOVE growing cultures of germs they find...and with such big dishes (like the size of SALAD PLATES!) they'll have PLENTY of room to divide the dish into quarters with a sharpy marker on the under side of the dish, then make a swab culture in each of the four quadrants. So...let's see what grows on brother's fingers, what grows in his mouth, what grows in his armpit, and what grows...(uh-oh, I better have a talk with them first about what are and are not appropriate places to get cultures from!) Great product, though!

I bought these petri dishes to store the Pandemic disease cubes, pawns, research stations and disease vials. 6 of these dishes fit into the storage area and will just accommodate all of these pieces. There are actually 7 types of pieces so I put 1 research station into each of the 5 dishes and 2 into the disease vials dish. Since the lids don't fit snugly, I put all of these 6 dishes (in a 2X3 formation) into a quart size Ziploc bag. The slightly larger bag can be folded to create some cushioning and prevent the lids from opening even if the game box were placed in a vertical position. I will use the remaining 4 petri dishes to store craft items - beeswax, needles, etc.

When I received these, it was very clear they were not Karter scientific. With that, I would hesitate to trust them being sterile. But if you need some petri dishes to mess around for cheap, look no further.

I go through lots of these each and every summer and they have many uses.I often do macro/micro photography of insects and we need to keep them controlled for video purposes. The plastic is very clear, no tint, no light distortion. Place live spiders, bees, wasps etc in them with confidence as they have built-in spacers for air to pass through around the edges.Another Amazon Customer asked if they will sink in water. YES, if you let the air out, they do sink in fresh water and will go straight to the bottom. You can also use them to preserve specimens/insects in... just fill then half way with liquid hand sanitizer, place the dead-dry bug in the center and finish filling with the sanitizer, place the cover on and your specimen is suspended perfectly and clear enough to be photographed or looked at under a microscope. They do scuff or scratch easily, so be very careful if you wish to reuse them. If you want to keep a bug inside without the risk of the top falling off, just add three equal distant short pieces of cellophane tape around the perimeter leaving room for air to pass in and out.If you wish to store food items or something else which requires an airtight seal, these will not work as is.They are exactly as described in the listing and very good quality for the price, I definitely recommend them.

Great little dishes I used for some tissue transfers. Only complaint is that they are small and I would just rather the bigger 90mm other than that all agar dishes poured inside a SAB were free of contamination.

Came in quick, no damage! They don't snap shut tightly so be aware... Might be tricky for stacking.
