It is comfortable to use, it does not choke unless the dog pulls. It looks and feels good quality, it's really worth the price. It is made of good materials and looks like it will last a long time.Being a combination of strap and chain, it is very easy to make it fit well and comfortable for the dog. Also, since the sliding part is made of a chain, it makes it easier and faster to tighten and loosen, which means that it does not stay tight after a pull and the dog coughs or chokes. I had one that was just a strap but I didn't like that at all. With this I am comfortable and confident about the safety and health of my dog. It works perfectly.

These collars were recommended by a dog rescue and they are perfect! I ordered one for each of my dogs. Be sure and measure for your dog's neck size, you want to tighten it to two fingers slipped underneath..I have a rescue that would slip out of her collar that she came home with! This collar works great if you grab the chain portion to control your dog. It is the perfect combo of control and safety for your pooch! I highly recommend! Note: Do not get the "no chain" version, they are thick and very difficult to use .for me anyway. I returned the ones I purchased. These are perfect!

These collars are great quality. I ordered two of them for some puppies that I'm working with. The only real downside that prevented my wanting to use them longer term is that the chain is quite heavy. I would not put this on a puppy for very long as I have concerns it could damage the neck growth/musculature so I'm waiting till they grow a bit to try again. On a scale, this collar weighed about 3.15 oz which doesn't sound too bad (that's a little over half a can of tuna) but I was surprised that the chain links are pretty big for the collar size. All in all, it's definitely heavy and good quality. That may be a good thing depending on the dog's age and size. It just wasn't great for me at this time... I kept them anyways because for the price I think it's worth hanging on to them and trying them again when the puppies get bigger. I feel like they are just gentle enough but with a little bit of action to get their attention.

Finally, I've found a martingale that fits my dogs neck! However, I had to extend it to the maximum length, including shoving the label under this adjustment buckle, to maximize the length, which probably wasn't intended to be done... so it works, but zero room left over! I would really love to see this collar lengthened by about an inch, to give a little more room for adjustment. This collar is certainly sturdy enough for a small to medium dog. The material quality, hardware, and workmanship appear to be good, and the price is reasonable. I like the width of the small size collar, many I looked at are wider, which is too much on a smaller dogs neck. I also like the weight of the chain, slightly heavy, as it makes the chain drop easily after releasing a light correction. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

My young adult English setter is a rescue, and has a reputation as a runner so she has not been off leash in the two+ weeks we have had her. I was using a large-link choke chain collar to ensure she cannot get away. Her coat is thin and the chain was wearing the hair off her neck [she is doing most of the pulling, we are working on that!] I have used martingale collars in the past but they were all webbing. I wanted to try the webbing/chain combo so ordered the Plutus model. My first impression, appears good quality. The loops and chain links are welded for strength which is great, and the ends of the webbing are attached to the loops with double rows of heavy duty stitching. The chain portion gives a ZIP noise when I give her lead a short tug which signals not to pull, an association that an all-web collar would not provide. The extra flat metal tab appears purely decorative, I suppose if one were using two leads for some reason [I have done this] it provides another attachment point. When I adjusted the size medium collar to fit her I ran out of room to get it small enough. She has a very thin neck I guess. There is a decorative rubber badge sewed to the webbing, in a minute or two I was able to pick out the stitching that attaches it and so gain another 3 inches of free adjustment. This is easy to do, I used a sewing seam ripping tool but any small sharp pointed object would work, just get into the stitches on the back side and pull the stitches out carefully. The webbing is way more comfortable for her than the old choke chain, I plan to purchase another Plutus Martingale as I am changing it from one lead to another right now.Edit: I found that the black plastic keeper on the webbing was very sharp edged--my dog had a hairless spot on the front of her neck from the prior use of a conventional choke chain and the edges of the plastic scraped her skin in the bald area. I clipped the plastic keeper off very easily and her neck healed up soon after. The keeper is not really necessary. If a dog has normal hair coat probably not an issue.

Unfortunately, I need to return this as it was much too large for my dog. She's a 70lb Australian Shepherd so I purchased a large based on the sizing chart but even tightened all the way, she would have slipped out. I loved the neutral color and wanted it to be a bit more discreet with her dark brown/red fur.

Fits perfect on my poodle. Great overall color if your dog doesn’t pull.
