Best investment on a cutting tool. Was building a fence and had to cut 40+ pipes. This machine is no joke and durable. It made my work so much easier compared to using a saw saw or a hand cutting grinder.

I bought this to do a custom exhaust for my truck. I have now completed it with no issues from this machine. Is it the best chop saw on the market? No. But for the price, you can’t go wrong. Especially if you don’t want to pay 350-400 for a low end metal bandsaw and really don’t do much metal work in the first place. A metal chop saw is really just a step up from a freehand angle grinder anyways. Unlike others, the clamp angle marks on mine are dead on. I was able to cut pies using it without problems. I did spend 5 bucks on a dewalt disc and haven’t used the supplied porter one so couldn’t tell you how it is. With the dewalt disc, this machine had no issue cutting 16 gauge SS exhaust pipe. Unlike a bandsaw, it does melt the bottom last bits so you will need to use a dremel or something to debur and clean that up. My biggest complaint is how messy these saws are. My final assessment is that if you only have 200 dollars, this saw will work for you. If you have 3-400 dollars, get a Wen or similar bench-top metal bandsaw so you don’t have the mess and will have a cleaner cut. But a bandsaw blade def cost more than 5 bucks. So up to you. I’d you get this, make sure to have a shop vac nearby to suck up the dust afterwards. If I have to do another metal project, I’ll probably invest in a metal bandsaw but will keep this machine for quick small cuts.

this is a decent quality saw for home DIY projects. Even the included wheel works fine as long as you don't get in a hurry. This saws motor doesn't quite have the horsepower or rpms of what you could have bought 10 to 15 years ago, but if you are patient it will do the job just fine. Slow light downward pressure...you can't lean on it and try to force it to go faster or the blade will break or stop. If you aren't in a real big hurry and have a little patience, this is a good steel cutting saw for the price. Besides in this price point- if you try to cut the steel too fast the cut will be rougher or crooked. I like mine and it and wheel are working perfect! :)

After reading lots of mixed reviews on this saw, and way too many bad reviews on every Dewalt chop saw I truly wanted, I finally bought this one for 1/4 of the price of the Dewalt, yet with less bad reviews.I ordered a Dewalt blade like many others suggested because of the claims of how bad the one that comes on it is.Well, I tried the factory blade, and it did just sit and spin and melt the metal and did not cut the material AT ALL if the metal was laid flat. So, being experienced in fabrication and mechanics... I set the material on end and the factory blade works good. The depth of the chop makes even thicker stuff easy to cut this way.Power is good as long as you don't force it through the cut.Is it as good as a 1k unit in a fab shop? No, but it's dirt cheap and for the average fabricator or weekend warrior or most average shops.... I'd recommend this in a heartbeat. And I'm picky about my tools, and I would absolutely buy this again. And unlike every Dewalt model I researched, this one actually makes STRAIGHT CUTS!

It's the second purchase of my DIY lifetime. It's a paradigm improvement from the one it replaces. The motor ... that's the whole story. 15A's and chops all day if you are so motivated. The garage circuit is 30A's, and it doesn't throw it. The 20A circuit I plugged into throws the breaker for too many stand-ups and sit-downs.I don't rely on sheet metal stamped angle indicators opting for the square for set-up. The clamping force is excellent. The stamped indicator appears pretty accurate. For the 20' long 6x4x3/8's mild steel angle I was cutting, my main issue (beside 300-some#'s of angle iron) was a height set-up on end opposite the cutter = to cutter base height to maintain square. The supplied Porter-Cable wheel can't match the M-brand for cutting life. Time is money, so I opt for a new wheel on every cut in this gauge steel. I could have spent an hour on the second bracket cut. At $5 a wheel, $5/cut cost is the best deal going.Oustanding product. Very satisfied.

The blade cut good but after a couple cuts just kinda slows down and melts it’s way through. I will replace it with a brand name blade and will be good. Motor is strong. If you cut to close to the edge the blade walks out easily but if you fallow the directions it says to give like 3 inches but as long as you are 1/2†from the end of the piece that should be good. You need to use the supplied wrench to adjust the angle of cut, would have been nice to have some knobs maybe. The angle markings are just rough estimates as the bolts are in big holes, so you should have your own instrument to set the angle. Good for the price!

At 147cad this was the best deal for a name brand saw (yes I know PC brand is not what it used to be and is part of the BD/Stanley/Dewalt conglomerate).Nice features for my use. I usually have it on the ground or on a lower bench so this type of handle works for me. I think the perpendicular handle would have been more awkward (unlike on my miter saw which is mounted on a higher custom cabinet).I also like that it has a pin to lock/release the saw rather than a chain which can come loose in my experience. The top handle is nice for transport.

This saw is pretty good. Cuts and clamps well, however, the blade that came with it is not that great. I replaced the Porter Cable blade with a Bosch blade and the difference was noticeable immediately. I can't blame the saw for the blade, but I will minus one star for the light coloured handle. The light grey (almost white) handle gets ugly-dirty very quickly in a normal metal fabrication environment. No guy is going clean the handle. Suggestion: Hide the grime and make the handle black, because that's the colour it's going to end up.

You don't need anything more then this saw can give you. I have been a welder for 20 years and have used many different types of cutting equipment. This saw is great simple and durable. I would recommend it for anyone interested in metal fabrication

I finally broke down and bought a metal chop saw. I watched a few videos on this particular model and was happy with what i saw so this was the one I chose. This has saved me countless hours by not having to use a hacksaw, a grinder or dragging out and setting up oxy/acetylene torches where i would still have to use a grinder to clean up the cuts... as a result, If you only have to do one or two cuts it's a real time saver as set up consists of only plugging it in. It cuts relatively cleanly occasionally leaving a bit of a sharp overhang of metal which can be removed with a file.. I have used this for hours and it is still going strong. It is made of lightweight metal and as a result is easy to carry around...It's adjustable from 90 degrees and everything in between. I'm not particularly easy on my tools and it is still functioning so it deserves credit just for that...The only fault I can find is that my electrical breaker trips if i really push down hard when cutting...so i don't do that anymore...oh, when using this, wear ear plugs, a pair of safety glasses and a face shield..as it's noisy and lots of sparks fly around...great useful product...5 stars.
