I have used these water purification tablets in the past on camping and hiking trips, and I wanted to have some more on hand. This was a great price for the peace of mind of being able to purify water for your family if necessary. a must have for your "go-bag."

While I’m not exactly a survivalist, I do have a set of supplies in the house for emergencies. This seems like a must-have an any emergency kit. What’s included are two bottles each of water purifying tablets and iodine tablets. Each bottle contains 50 tablets and you need two of each type to treat 1 quart of water. Therefore four bottles will treat a total of 50 quarts. You first purify the water (30 minutes) and then add the iodine to improve taste. You’ll need a clean quart container with a well-fitting, twist-on lid in order to treat the water using these tablets. There’s no expiration date on the bottle. However, it should be stored in a cool, dry place with the cap well sealed. Each bottle is about 2 inches high and an inch wide. Very small and easy to store and carry.I don’t have the capability to test if the water is actually purified, but in looking into the company on linkedin, they’ve been making outdoor safety solutions since 1896. You can do your own research to learn more about them to see if it’s right for you. (Pharmacalway)

I've seen some misinformation in a few other reviews here, so please carefully read the directions on each bottle before using this. The brown Iodine tabs are used first. Give them 5 mins to dissolve, shake the water bottle, then flip it to make sure the treated water gets into the cap and threads. Then wait 30 minutes (longer if it's really cold or the water is dirty). After that, throw in the neutralizer tabs and you will quickly see the water change from a light amber (due to the iodine) to clear.I've used a variety of water purification methods while backpacking, and iodine is one of the easiest and safest ones. These days, filter technology has improved to the point where it would be my go to, though I would still carry iodine with me as a backup. The biggest complaint most people have with iodine is the taste, however this system solves that with the neutralization tablets. It's great for shorter trips, however you do not want to use iodine for months on end (like if you are through hiking the AT) if you can help it.My only other caution would be to be careful with the bottles while hiking. They are glass, and I still have a scar from 20+ years ago when I slipped while carrying one to a water source, fell, and it broke in my hand. This review was for "Potable Aqua Water Purification Tablets with PA Plus, Portable and Effective Solution for Camping, Hiking, Emergencies, Natural Disasters and International Travel, Two 50ct Bottles (2-Pack)"

These Potable Aqua Water Purification Tablets are a valuable resource to have ready for emergencies. While I am mostly a novice at water purification because any hikes I take are simply advanced walking though nature which are planned to end at the end of the day, I am well aware of the value of clean water in case of an emergency, whether a hiking incident or some major catastrophe. Most importantly when it comes to clean water, it makes absolutely no sense to take chances on some unknown or substandard product. And Potable Aqua is a well known brand which is reliable and trustworthy. This specific kit includes enough supplies to create 50 liters of purified drinking water, with neutralizing tablets to help remove the taste and color of the iodine from the water. I would also suggest a filtered one liter water bottle to add the kit for even better results.

I first used Potable Aqua tablets around 1997 on a backpacking trip. It’s a trustworthy brand with a long history of effective water treatment. I am overly cautious, so I often boil, treat, and then filter the water. After the water completely cools from boiling it, I add 2 treatment tablets per liter of water (Potable Aqua with white cap) and wait at least 30 minutes. (I do mine in a pot, but if you are doing it in a bottle with a cap, you need to follow the special instructions on the packaging.) Then I add the neutralizing tablets (PA Plus with yellow cap) and wait 5 more minutes. Then I run the water through my filter. Without filtering, the treated water does not taste good on its own. If filtering is not possible, I add an electrolyte pack or make tea or coffee to mask the taste. The treatment tablets use iodine and Tetraglycine Hydroperiodide to kill bacteria. The iodine stains bladders and soft plastics. The staining is unavoidable. Unopened, Potable Aqua is good for many years. Once opened, they should be used up within a year.

These are awesome to have on hand. They are great for emergencies. We keep them in our emergencies supplies. They’re also good to take camping, hiking, fishing, or anything outdoors. They are really small bottles and super easy to small store. I highly recommend them!
