Update: I've added photos showing the use of Purinize on my tap water using a cloth as filter (showed my Sawyer bag as well since that's what I usually use). Water tasted much better (usually has a metallic taste) even though not much sediment showed on the cloth._______I truly enjoy this product. Working as a ParkRanger near Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks gives me plenty of opportunities to hike and camp in the back country. One of the most convenient aspects of this is the dropper-top. It makes for ease of use and to keep from cross contaminating. When flying to places like Yosemite I prefer to only take a carry-on and this package is travel size. It doesn't have an expiration date and it starts working in an hour. Once the solution is processed it creates a sediment that works in tandem with my Sawyer filter. You can use a coffee filter otherwise. The result: great tasting, pure water.

I finally got a chance to try this product that I ordered last week. I was hiking in the mountains and filled one of my water bottles with water out of a stream. I added the amount of Purinize recommended on the bottle (love the easy to use dropper bottle), shook it, let it sit for about 20 minutes, then ran it through my filter into another bottle. Drank the entire liter and there was no aftertaste like you get with the iodine based products. I will be taking this on a trip to Yosemite with me next month. Great product!

I usually buy Iodine, but I bought this instead to go with my filter. I used it on a recent camping trip and it worked well, I just followed the directions. There was no taste and I know it's healthier for me than Iodine, obviously, since it's all natural. I barely had to use any, so I can see this 2oz bottle lasting a while! Pretty awesome product!

Never heard of this before but when I looked it up here I was intrigued, and then, began research elsewhere. Highly useful and highly rated item to keep on hand. Never know when a boil water notice occurs or just for camping. Safe ingredients, too. I bought the small bottle for my BOB, camping, hiking, kayaking and more. Bought the 8oz bottle for the house. Highly recommend. Think redundancy for everything.

I got this before my trip to India and honestly, I noticed my husband who didn't use it was under the weather and sick for some of the trip- while I had absolutely no digestive issues or food sicknesses of any kind that arose the whole time I was there. It was amazing! Would definitely recommend. I have so much left over I have stored it in my house in my emergency kit.I would buy bottled water, pout the recommended number of drops in the bottled water and follow the directions, and THEN I would pour the purinized water through a Brita filter just to be safe. Will do that next time I am traveling to a country that requires me to do this to prevent sickness.

Before trusting my health to this product, I attempted to verify the claim that the product performs coagulation, flocculation, and disinfection on fresh water contaminated with microbiological and chemical pathogens. I see no evidence that this product works as advertised other than the manufacturer's claims. I performed a simple test of the intended purpose of the product. Took one liter sample of stagnated pond water and filtered through filter paper to remove large debris and suspended particles. Next, I added 1/4 tsp (1.25 ml) as directed and agitated vigorously for 1 minute. The water sample had a brown tint (from decaying organic material) with no visible particles. After 24 hours, there was no change in color in the sample and there was no sediment formation as there should have been. I added 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) (3x dosage) to each sample, agitated and waited 24 hours. Still, no color or sediment changes were observed. Performed a second test using pure water with instant coffee as a contaminant stimulant and got the same results. How can one be confident in the product's safety and efficacy given these results?

Its been almost a month since my Yosemite backpacking trip... I am A-OK today nothing to report. This product just WORKS... plain and simple. It does have a very (very) faint "taste", nothing gross or offensive mind you. I couldn't detect it right away, until I compared it A-B with non-purinize treated water. I use this after filtering with a Sawyer squeeze... FWIW. So I mechanically filter first and then treat with purinize. My only other reference for comparison is iodine tablets, and purinize drops most definitely taste WAAAYY!! better than those awful things.

Great for any occasion if you suspect drinking water bacterial contamination.
