It worked as advertised and removed the stuck pilot bearing out of the manual transmission. It took a couple of tries, but that had more to do with me than the tool.

I like the simple tool design and tools overall construction is ok. The problem is the tool dose NOT pull the bearing. The tool becomes this spring loaded danger when the bearing does not move as the tools arms are wedged inside the bearing. The tool will then jump wildly once the arms are pulled from the bearing (the only way to remove the tool). The reason I gave it one star, is I was able to get the arms to stay hooked by finding an item to fill the space between the arms while in the bearing (a large screwdriver blade). The bottom line is the tool does not work because the hook arms (believed aluminum) flex in and unhook when the pulling force is applied to pull the bearing.

I needed to file a sharper ledge into the prongs that latch on the bearing so that they could grab the lip of the bearing more securely.Other than that, it works very well for removing the pilot bearing. Easy, controlled removal on the first and only attempt.Putting the new pilot bearing in took way longer than removing the old one out.

The tool is not bad for the price, but it did take some modifications to make it work. The teeth that hold the pilot bearing were shallow and round and did not grip whatsoever. I had to reshape them with a file, and once I did, it worked like a charm.

This is a well made tool in a nice, tough little storage case. The Amazon price for identical or functionally similar tools from other sources was much better. Important note: The tool's puller arms (as it comes out of the box) slide on the inside of the pilot bearing and do not function properly. You can see the arms flex inward when you start to apply pressure. Be sure to take a file that cuts a 90 degree notch and create a small flat surface on the outside of the arms. This flat surface will catch the back of the pilot bearing and the tool will then work as designed. If the notch is too deep you could weaken the arms.

I tried several times. DID NOT WORK. Tore up the bearing pretty good though. Very DISAPPOINTED. The Hooks are too rounded & not tall enough, It just would not grip. Finally purchased a OEM puller for the slide hammer, Worked like a charm.

I bought this to pull out a pilot bearing on a Honda K series. Worked perfect, BUT, I did have to grind the tips a bit finer to get it to grab. Also pulled various pressed on bearings from main/counter shaft with it. Very happy, excellent product.
