This was a great buy for our backyard!Highlights ...- Easy to assemble- Easy to use- Quiet (My toddler napped inside the house while I was chipping branches)- Chips up to the thickness advertised for branches- The plunger is a great add to keep tricky bits in contact with the chipping bladesKey Things to Keep in Mind ...- Use the right gauge of power chord! Some reviews mention the unit failing or struggling with power, but when using the right gauge of chord I had no issues.- Be patient ... it's electric! It will get the job done, but don't expect it to do the job at the speed of a gas powered engine. Don't overfeed it and make sure to help guide some branches, so they keep in contact with the chipping blades.- Use eye protection! There are hard rubber barriers to help, but still use eye protection.Overall ...Be ready to have some fun! This was a great addition to my backyard shed of tools to use throughout the year. We used it to chip down thick branches, twigs, and long weeds to add to our compost bins.

I bought this to chip bark from pine trees that have fallen on my property. It was easy to assemble, quieter than I expected, and worked great at grinding up the bark into small chips that I can use in my flower beds.

The first time I used this to chip a mix of new and dry branches. After about 20mins the blade dulled so I had to flip it. Got another 15-20mins before it was toast. To help keep it going longer, and avoid needing to sharpen in the middle of a job, I got better blades. Now I can run it for 45mins each side before needing to sharpen. That’s plenty of time to get what needs doing done. Its super simple design makes it easy to use and change the blade, you’ll just need your own hex key to change the blades.It’s easy enough to store outside against the house by covering with a large trash bag. I do plan to make a better cover for it, but it works fine for now. A larger chipper not only cost more but takes up a lot more space. This is all we need really. If you do a ton of chipping this may not be ideal.As long as the branch size isn’t too big this chips well. It’s also good for breaking up the stems of fall leaves, which I need finer so they break down quicker when I feed them to my composting worms.Overall does what I need and price wasn’t too bad either. There are plenty of others that look identical so not sure if any one is better than another. Guess we will see how long it lasts.

Nice size shredder. Makes quick work of the twigs that fall from my 70 yr old maple tree. Trimmed the low hanging branches from the tree and it chewed those right up too. Glad I bought it. I only have 3 trees so it's not heavily used. It just makes it easier for me to take to the recycle center or spread in my garden. I put leaves and weeds and garden cuttings through it also. Not hard to put together.

If you have sticks and twigs, it'll grind them up. Leaves and yard debris make it very difficult to get the stuff in the small top opening. I returned mine.

It is portable and small so it stores in the garage easily. Chips twigs and small limbs well. It is electric so problems with having a gummed up gas powered one. Great for my needs.
