This Soarun violin rosin seems to be a decent quality. It is fairly soft and has good tack. The decorative tin is a cute extra, however, the rosin cake is fairly small in order to fit in the tin. I've included a picture next to a peppermint candy for size comparison. I started using this in late summer and it doesn't get too soft or sticky, so I anticipate that it should also work equally well in winter.

My son recently started playing the violin and needed rosin for his bow. This has been great. I can hear the difference between when the bow has rosin or not, and it sounds great when this rosin has been used. It doesn't leave any dust residue on the violin or make the bow sticky. It comes in a nice little tin that will keep the rosin safe until it's used up. Then, it can still be used for other little things. It's a great value for a beginner.

Works pretty well for a lesser expensive rosin. I didn't score or roughen up the surface before applying, and probably I could have, as it was a little difficult getting it to stick atop my older rosin build up. There was some dust, but that was probably from my old rosin on the strings and as well. I did rosin it a few times at first, but it did seem to grab better after I did that a few times. I did feel a little slippage when bowing, but that might just means I needed a bit more on the hairs. I think it works as well as some more expensive rosins that I have tried. Time will tell, but it is affordable enough to try, plus you get the nice little decorative metal jar as well.

First off, I'm a bass player (electric bass) that dables with other instruments. I ended up with a violin and then ended up ordering this rosin. After watching a few videos, I tried putting it on the violin bow. OK, easy enough. It worked! I could absolutely feel and hear that the bow was grabbing the strings just a little bit more. Cool!I have no clue if this is good rosin or bad because it is the first rosin I have ever used. All I know is that it was easy to apply and that it works.

This is an attractive rosin offering, with the usual content in a round form.I mention the form because the bow hair has a rectangular shape. If you want to fully use all the rosin you've bought, I'm not sure you can easily get there with a round package. (The other format you find is rectangular, boxy).But that's a nit. The rosin is fine and this is a great gift for a string player at any stage of learning.

Appears to be a very high grade of rosin, and the package is very neat for keeping it. I carefully ran this onto the bow hair several times, and finally my violin is producing clear and sweet sound. The old rosin lump that I had before just was not doing the job. I won't use anything else going forward.
