I had one of these at my previous home to keep the pets from pushing the bedroom door open. I bought this set because an idiot put in my front door and it didn't latch and the deadbolt didn't line up so I couldn't lock my door until I got a new handyman here. Good luck getting anyone to show up these days. These were perfect. Screw it into the jam, flip it over, and the door stays shut. I am going to paint them white but that is just a personal preference.Just a note, these would also be perfect for keeping kids from walking in, if you know what I mean.

My mom has dementia and has gone walk about while I was sleeping. She was able to undo the deadbolt and doorknob lock. I installed a flip latch at the top of the back door and the front door. Was very inexpensive and easy to install and is very effective at keeping mom inside.

Didn't take any time to install, it wasn't expensive, and does an adequate job. I mean, it's a lightweight deterrent, if someone really wanted to get into your house it won't prevent them from kicking in your door. Just added safety along with my other locks.

Used this to "lock" a bathroom closet to store cleaning products, medicine, nail polish, etc. away from young kids. It's easy to open for us and so far (a few years) has kept kids out. This is not a true lock - all you have to do is lift and then flip it to open, so if your kid is hellbent on getting in and they play with it long enough they'll figure it out. We don't have a chair anywhere near this closet and we put it really high up - almost to the top of the door frame - so it's not easy to reach... plus when I open it with kids in the room I cover it with my hand so they don't see how I do it. With that said, if I had an older kid I was concerned about taking prescription drugs or something like that, I'd go for something with a key. Another plus is it does minimal damage so when you want to remove it, you'll just have to fill a few holes inside the door frame which won't be noticeable.

I didn't use this as front door security like some of the other reviews here. These went on my closets as an alternative to knob covers... and let me tell you, this thing is sooooo much easier to operate! Just install it at eye level and out far enough that it flips back and forth easily. Yes you will drill a couple little holes into your door jamb, but they're out of sight and don't require notching out your trim. Unlike the "wobble knobs" as we call them, a kid *can't* figure this out and open the door, because it's up out of reach. They also *can't* jimmy them open, as the latch panel falls into a slot that locks it in place. Bonus, they *look* nice too. There's a little set screw that you can insert into the top hole, which prevents this from locking should you need to "deactivate" it. That'll be useful when this kid is grown and we don't need to lock the closets (we could uninstall them too, but hey, maybe there's a #3 in the future?)I bought two at first - one for the hall closet and one for the utility/furnace room - and liked them so much I bought 3 more for the rest of the closets in the house. Heavy duty toddler proofing!

Just what we needed! Our two-year-old was outmuscling any childproofing device we put on our lever door handle, was constantly trying to bolt to fulfill his obsession with "OUT!!!!", and would've kept succeeding had we not kept eyes and ears on him. We really wanted something that served as a physical barrier that he couldn't outmaneuver, and the fact that our front door itself is hollow set some limitations to what we could attach to it. He prived himself able to defeat anything adhesive. An acquaintance with a kid the same age suggested this with glowing reviews. It attaches to the frame, not the door, so that makes it doable here. We placed it high enough that our older kids (7 and 10) can just reach it, but it's far too high for the toddler. It's easy for them and us adults to operate quickly, but again, not something I think the little guy could could sort out easily even if he could reach it. It gives us a huge peace of mind to feel like we have an extra layer of protection that goes further than eyes and ears to keep the persistent Houdini kept inside. I mean, in a perfect world, we could literally stop him ourselves 24/7, but it's nice to have a little backup prevention for moments like when I'm in the shower, running laundry through in the basement, or in case he walks up in the morning before the alarm goes off, etc. Installation with quick and simple.

I bought one of these ingenious locks over 20 years ago from a newspaper offer and have since tried to buy another. I looked everywhere and couldn't find one anywhere. Finally at long last I found one and I am so pleased with it.

A nice simple door lock, which does the job of preventing toddlers from opening doors very well. Thoroughly recommended.

These are cheap, but very clunky. It’s hard to unlock after locking. I ended up returning and getting heavy duty versions that have a better lock unlock system by pulling out at 90 degrees
