Prismacolor are the best colored pencils on the market in my opinion. I have been using them for, let me count...fifteen years now and have never found one better. They layer, blend, saturate gorgeously, and allow for amazing control while giving amazing quality. I can't use oil paints, I just don't paint well at all, but I love the realistic effects oil paints can give. These pencils can do the same thing. And they lend themselves to mixed media better than any pencils I've ever used as well. These are the best, artist quality pencils.

I keep these in stock for burnishing and blending it's the only white pencil that I have found that does the job well and on wax or oil

The white pencils are good for blending if you're ok with adding a cool tint to your work. The colorless blenders are better if you want to preserve values.

I craft greeting cards and stamp and color lots of images. I find that Prismacolor pencils are the best. i had many colors except the white one. This works nicely to add a spark to eyes in images.

Yeah, so, 9/12 pencils arrived split down their length.2/12 were split the entire way, another 2-3 were split most of the length, but under the sheath. several more had splits/checking/cracking for more than an inch. Beyond that, the marking/branding has SMUDGED INK several places.Looking closely, it looks like several portions of the text were "pressed" using some sort of metal stamp that was poorly cast from a real pencil. Check out the oval shaped indent around "PREMIER(R)" and "BLANC" especially... I don't recall there being such an obvious indent on real pencils.We'll see what the manufacturer says - but in any case, only 1/4 of my order is use-able. I suppose I should thank my lucky stars I received 12 hunks of wood to begin with, after reading some of the other reviews.
