prisma colors have always been superior to any other color pencil because it’s oil based and more like an oil pastel in a pencil, and any real artist would know that.

I always loved the brand Prisma because their colored pencils are rich in color to where you don’t need to recolor spaces as often as you would for a brand like Crayola. I also love their pencils because it’s easy to layer, mix, and lighten the colors and the way it draws on paper is usually smooth, almost creamy. I thought that since this set was by Prisma it would be the same. The only difference is that while the colors are lovely and pastel like advertised, it does take about 2-3 more times to color in a spot and it has an uncomfortable dry, waxy feel despite the color transferring decently onto the page. I think if you have an artist in your life or someone who is always coloring it would be best to get one of the bigger packs even if it is pricier or you could ask them what shade ranges they use most or want. I specifically wanted pastels because most of my coloring books deal with subjects that fit pastel vibes. I wish they had a bigger range for the pastels.

These are great color pencils 150, so there are many different shades. I have used this brand for 7 years now and I’m very satisfied.
