If lights is 6 or 7, it is true jade.

Bare Hands Operation Touch Panel
When holding the instrument, be sure to touch the conductive plate on the back with your fingers (if you do not touch the conductive plate, you will not be able to measure correctly).
The tip is placed vertically and gently on the test stone.
When measuring bare stone, place the test stone on a bare stone stand and be sure to touch the stand with your hands, or if the stone is already mounted on a ring or mount, be sure to touch the metal part (frame) with your bare hands. The diamond selector has metal contact protection to avoid measurement errors. The tip is placed vertically and gently on the test stone. When measuring the diamond test stone, the indicator of the instrument will change from green > Yellow > red, and finally the speaker will make a dripping sound. If the stone is fake, the reaction is small. The probe makes a dribbling sound when it touches the metal part and the alarm goes off. Therefore, make sure that the tip only touches the gemstone.

I had no idea how to use it. I looked up on YouTube to learn how to use it, other than reading the manual. I believe it seems to work well.

This is a handy item to have to check your jewelry, and would be especially helpful if you like to buy secondhand. The tester seems easy to use but you will definitely need to review in instruction booklet because the unit isn’t exactly self-explanatory. The booklet is actually half the reason for the loss of a star since its English is a bit sketchy. The rest of the star loss is the lack of a case or bag. The unit came with a USB cord for charging. After testing a few items we lean toward believing it is accurate. This is the first diamond tester we ever got so we don’t have anything to compare it to. Over we are happy with the item and unless we start having accuracy doubts we’ll continue to rely on its results.

I love this diamond tester and use it to test not just my jewelry but that of my friends and family. If you are looking for a reasonably priced diamond tester then you should consider this one. It is affordable and accurate.

I have a few pieces of jewelry that sparkle. I picked them up at auctions, secondhand stores etc. and was unsure if they sparkled with diamonds, or something else. I was curious, but didn't want to bring them to a jeweler, especially if they weren't real LOL.I first tested the pen on diamonds that I was sure were real, & it reacted quickly - the ones with uncertainty, not so much LOL. Oh well. :)When this tester is placed on a real diamond, it responds very well - there's no doubt.The tester is nicely sized to keep in my purse for quick tests during shopping adventures & the cap for the tip securely snaps into place. While it would be great if it came with a case, I'm sure I have something to protect it when on the go.Although this was my first experience with a diamond tester, it was easy to use. The Key Operation notes in the description along with the additional information in the booklet had me testing in no time. Great little item for anyone curious about their own gems, or treasure hunting for new ones.

I have another diamond tester pen that I purchased in 2017, and I still use it almost weekly. But it took me a while to find any instructions and understand how to properly use it! (Use the chart on the back to determine the number of lights to have on before testing, hold it with bare hands and make sure you're touching the metal plate on the back, etc.) It was a real pain until I found clear instructions.....then it made sense!But THIS diamond tester is SO much easier to use! It's rechargeable, so I don't have to continually insert and remove a 9-volt battery like I have been doing. (I never know how long it will be unused, so I didn't want to leave a battery in it.) There's no chart to confuse you. Just turn on the number of lights pertaining to the size of the diamond listed under the lights!It comes with a tray for testing loose stones (be sure to hold or touch the tray while testing.) It has a nice cover for the tip of the tester, and it also includes a nice instruction manual. The ONLY thing it doesn't have that would have been nice is some sort of storage case. You can use the box it came in, but that probably won't last very long.I'm thrilled with this tester and highly recommend it!

I’m not sure if this works or not. Used it on some certified diamonds and it didn’t really give a reliable reading. Other than that it’s pretty easy to use.

My wife and I enjoy antiquing and hit estate sales on a regular basis. I figured I would try this out. Neither one of is an expert at identifying gems or stones in jewelry.This was pocket size and I figured we would give it try since we could keep it our pocket. We tested it out on some of our own jewelry and it worked well. Hopefully we will have some successful purchases in the future or identifying non-purchases. We may have to consider a precious metal tester next.The unit was easy to use. The directions were good. Like anything else there was a little learning curve the first few times trying it. It was easy to catch on. The price point was very reasonable. The unit is well built. I wouldn’t plan on dropping it on the floor, but I think it will be ok with the occasional accident. Based on my intended use we are pleased with it and recommend it.
