This is so easy to use! Covers a lot of area. My other one took forever to blacken a steak. This is quick and easy to use.

I use this every time I cook outside and it is super. It lets me start fires in my green egg and it helps me to sear my meat in my Traeger pellet grill.

Awesome for lighting my wood stove. Just wish it had an instant off switch for the gas. You have to turn it down by a knob.

This product is a propane gas powered torch which may be connected to a one-pound propane cylinder. Alternatively, it may be connected to a 20-pound (or larger) propane tank using a properly configured propane hose for bigger or more long term uses. The torch is adjustable using the rotary control valve built into the torch handle. It has a piezo ignition unit built into the torch handle for instant ignition, once the gas is turned on using the rotary control valve. This torch is capable of making a significant flame out of the business end. It can be used to light charcoal fires very quickly, if desired. It can also be used to light a propane grill if the piezo mechanism of the grill is not working. It may be used in the kitchen (very carefully, of course. Remember the significant flame out of the business end!). It may be used to finish Crème Brûlée servings, to sear sous vide steaks or other meats, to make S'mores, and for many other culinary tasks. It can be used when cooking outdoors to create the proper crust on smoked or grilled meats and vegetables. It can also be used for non-culinary outdoor tasks but one would need to ensure its cleanliness after such tasks if it were to go back into the kitchen. One point to consider: Almost all propane sources in the U.S. have an odorant chemical (Ethyl Mercaptan) added to the propane so that propane gas leaks can be easily detected. Propane so treated may add unpleasant odors and tastes into foods for which this torch is used. Cooking-grade propane is available (even through Amazon) which is highly purified and DOES NOT contain the odorant chemical. I would suggest that such a product be obtained and used with any cooking tasks.

This has a pretty large opening & does throw a lot of flame when you turn the gas on. Its better suited for outdoors. I got this to give burnt wood texture for my wood working projects. I have a smaller torch but it takes a lot of time of the wood surface is large. I haven't got a chance to use it for a project yet, but tried it on a small piece & it worked well.

I connected this to a standard small camp stove, propane bottle, and using the igniter and adjustment for the gas flow, started it right up. I noticed, however when the weather was cold outside, it would not ignite immediately. I would have to activate the trigger to ignite five or 10 times to get it to ignite. I went out and used it again today to start a barrel fire and it fired right up. So the ignition is a bit glitchy. I’m not sure if the cold temperature had anything to do with it. Once fired up it’s extremely powerful. At full blast this flame is raging. I recommend it but keep it in a warm area and the design could be improved with a new igniter designed.

Lights up easily with the built-in igniter. Stays on without having to hold any triggers or buttons. Control positive negative easy to read easy to turn. Only downside is that it’s such a large barrel that there is not the best precision.

Ok so - this thing works well, but the flame control is a little "eh". You either have a face-melting, fire breathing beast or a small flame. There isn't much in between. Great for starting campfires.
