I went trough several designs and keep going back to Rapala. Primarily fish salt water so large mouth fish. May not work on small mouth fresh water fish.These are actually bit longer than 9†which works great. They float. Have a long enough leash to secure to your wrist.Only downside is that stainless steal pins are getting rusty, but pretty much any other brand will have the same issue. Have to remember to always rinse them, after each use.Used these with halibut, sharks, and lingcod - those sharp teeth did not damage material at all.

Has worked well for me in salt and freshwater and is very handy to have for sure. My only gripe is I wished the front end of the grippers were easier to use to part the a fish's closed mouth (It can take a little finesse, or another set of pliers, to shove the blunt ends of the grippers into a catfish's closed mouth) Once the fish is lip gripped though, they perform well at holding the fish
