I like this tool because it versatile and seems to be well made. I just received it last night and had to try it. My principal use is to caramelize sugar on Creme Bruile. It caramelized the sugar in a few seconds. It does not come with butane, but I bought some. Be sure to invert the torch, insert the fuel tube from the can into the small reservoir hole in the torch. Press firmly until you feel the cold of the fuel, meaning the tool's reservoir is full. Remove the safety cap on the dial, open the valve, press the ignition button then let go.Easy.

this thing is VERY nice. i use mine several times a day and have for a couple months with zero issue. i love the square base that lets you turn it on its back and use it hands free. Oh, and it looks awesome and feels great in your hand. far better built than any of the two dozen or so i have previously owned

Let's see, I have a torch I use with a "smoked drinks" kit and another that I use for lighting our campfires (and cigars!) - I wanted this torch for the kitchen for desserts and for finishing steaks. This is a SOLID torch - it feels good in your hand - although my wife said she wished it was a little bit heavier - the machined diamond pattern grip is sure to keep this from slipping from your hand (even when they are greasy or wet).I DO LIKE the fact that you can light and adjust the flame with one hand - none of my other torches can do this! Unlike my other torches - you must turn on the gas and then click the lighter, but consequently, the torch remains lit until you turn the gas valve closed. This is a good thing when using the torch in the kitchen. I DO LIKE the flame control and range - you can have a gentle flame for lighting birthday candles or a turbo-jet for searing / crisping your steaks, chicken, etc. It has a nice rectangular base to stand it up on - BUT, it is a bit top-heavy, so if you bump it, it will topple.MY ONLY CRITICISM is that the butane fill valve does not mate well with the butane supply tip. It will fill, but not without some hissing/butane escaping while you are doing it. The torch does come with 3 adapters that I believe are intended to solve this problem (they have a tip that I believe is meant to fit over the butane inlet on the torch and then have "stepped" diameters in the top cone to fit whatever size you have on your butane supply can. The issue is that none of the adapters fit the inlet valve on the torch (without gently modifying the adapter tip so it will go over the valve). That said, one of my other torches has the same issue, but I still love using it for smoking cocktails and I WILL DEFINITELY USE THIS TORCH in our kitchen. RECOMMEND!!

We just moved back to the States from the Balkans. While there, we bought one of these for creme brûlée and it was wonderful. It really had a strong frame and was easy to use. We weren’t allowed to ship it overseas so I bought this one. The flame is much more limited. It’s still easy to control and fits nicely in my hand. Easy to refill and not expensive. I just wish they would allow a larger flame to make my work easier.

I bought this to help clear the thin trailing strands of plastic often left behind during 3D printing. It's working great for that. The flame will reach into small gaps and cause the strands to snap and shrink in on themselves, vanishing into inconsequential bumps in the surface that come off easily with a subsequent brush of sandpaper or a hand file if needed. The flame stays active during use without having to hold anything down, which is good because I can use any grip I need, concentrate on where the flame is going, and it won't unexpectedly flip out of my hands because I'm using finger pressure to hold down a button. I can also set it on the table and move parts through the flame as needed, though that would be safer with some sort of holster as you CAN accidentally knock it over and it will NOT stop burning if you do.I find it easy to turn off with the hand that's holding it, but because there isn't a positive stop on the valve, I always double check with the other hand that it's closed properly. The flame adjusts from very small and precise, to larger than I have any use for, and stays blue through the whole range. Two months later, the butane I first put in this torch is still there and still makes a great flame. I understand some reviewers have had issues with leaks. It seems the design is good, but like with any manufactured product out on store shelves in the millions of units, there may be a few bad valves or something out there. The one I received seems to be great.

For me, the function of this touch is for camping. The adjustable flame strength and ease of use is great for lighting a small bomb fire. Good quality.
