It’s easy to assemble and disassemble. The size and sturdiness is a great bonus! The appearance is what first caught my eye and when I received the shovel the pictures did it justice. The fact that it’s heavier adds to the picks potential and makes moving ground easier. The paint does chip over time but just like any other tool if you use it enough. It’s a little bigger than expected when folded up in my bag so it fits a little awkwardly but depending on what type of bag and configuration you have it might work for you. I love the sheath it comes in cause I can clip it easily to my bag cause like I said before it fits semi weird cause it’s bigger than other shovels I’ve had. It’s not the sharpest but if you know how to sharpen it’s easy to bring it back. Thanks you for listening to my Ted Talk.

Perfect for beach driving in my Jeep, just in case I need it. Compact and well built. Great price for prime day or black Friday deals.

Tool is serviceable for field locks tight in place and is sturdy. A good value and does not take up much space. Carrying case not so much! Reason for 4 stars!

This is a great mini shovel for garden. It is a compact, yet sturdy tool when a large shovel isn’t required.

So. There I was at Ft Polk, LA. A Soldier walks up kinda shy and asks, "Uh... how do you keep from getting 'poo' on your shovel?" (yes, she really asked, and no she didn't use the word 'poo')I was quite confused initially. Upon realizing the issue, I replied, "Well, you dig the hole first -as in dig the hole, 'poo' in the hole, and then cover it up..."---I got this shovel to keep from my issued one from needing to be used (I've left it in the wrapper it came in for the day it needs returning). This is the substitute. It's somewhat lighter than the issue shovel and a hair bit smaller, but it is quite effective. I used it to dig cat-holes and hasty's -along with chopping brush and clearing small tree limbs & vines- for a full month with nothing more than mild wear on the cutting's edge paint.I left it out beside my vehicle for anyone to borrow and it saw HEAVY use for an entire month in a CAV's JRTC rotation. It dealt with all the heat, rain, humidity, & abuse my, my fellow Soldiers, myself, & Ft. Polk could throw at it. I'm definitely impressed with the lighter build while retaining the ability to take a lot of use with only minimal signs wear.

I believe I got the tougher version. Very sturdy and compact. Great for camping. Storage bag is a little cheap feeling but definitely works

This was a pleasant surprise. For the money, I half expected a large spoon made from aluminum tin foil... But, I was very happy to see it turned out to be (almost) exactly like my 1st, military issued- that is still in service today. It rides in the cargo box on my 4-Wheeler though and I needed another one for my trekking pack - not only to dig my fire pits, but to serve as a backup for the (however unlikely) event I need to cut fire wood (again, while backpacking and tent camping along the way) and my folding pocket saw, pocket chainsaw with the paracord handles, 1 of my multi-tools that has an axe on the opposite end of a hammer - good for maybe hanging a picture or driving a little bitty tack, but in an emergency - the serrated blade on my once leatherman cut enough saplings up to 2" maples to make a shelter (that was just for fun though) or anything else that I have fails/is lost, broken, stolen (never know what those crazy squirrels are gonna steal next! Lol) This is sharp enough, thick and sturdy enough, and has the added value of a comfortable handle, that enables a 2 hand grip, AND the added value of force by way of distance, angle & direction. Fully extended, this would be capable of lethal force when weilded by the right set of hands. We were trained to use these for -- nevermind, I mean, they are great, lightweight yet sturdy tools for digging in a sleep hole. I love the Carry case, it's just a cheap canvas thing that won't last long but the thought definitely counts in my opinion.Considering that I looked at many of these and saw some that were absolute garbage- and that this one is nearly identical to the 1st one I was issued over 30 years ago, I think this is a bargain! And so---I definitely - without a doubt - RECOMMEND this product!!Thanks for reading.~€mjey"Providing you- the next civilian and fellow customer, a genuine, honest and most importantly - a non-incentivized review of the consumer goods I have bought with my own hard earned money, tested with real world application under a broad scope of knowledge of many things.
